Provided herein is a method, apparatus, and computer program product for a system to facilitate local communication between a plurality of portable personal devices and a third party entity using an internet of things. An apparatus may be provided including at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code. The apparatus may be caused to: receive a cookie from a third party entity; compare the cookie to a database of trusted cookies; initiate a user interface for accepting or rejecting the cookie in response to the cookie not corresponding to a trusted cookie; receive a selection to either accept or reject the cookie; receive a security profile to apply to the cookie in response to the receiving a selection to accept the cookie; apply the security profile to the cookie; and store the cookie in the database of trusted cookies.

An electronic service guide (ESG) is provided by transmitting announcements describing multimedia sessions, such as video streams. Sessions are organized into a session directory () which is split into two parts: a full session directory () and an updated session directory (). A method and system for performing multicast broadcast handover in a wireless data network are disclosed. Each cell broadcasts administrative announcements over a logical channel to mobile terminals. The announcements indicate which multicast broadcasts are available in specified cells, as well as connection information for each cell. The mobile terminals may tune to a multicast broadcast as defined by the administrative announcements. While tuned to the multicast, the mobile terminal continues to receive administrative announcements. As the broadcast fades out or is otherwise interrupted, the mobile terminal can retune to the same multicast broadcast in another cell, based on the cell connection information included in the previously received administrative announcements.

The system employs devices programmed to operate according to a protocol that preserves a file's properties such as, for example, its name, type, length, and hierarchical relationship, i.e. the file's absolute or relative location.

The invention relates to a mechanism for performing multicast transmission in a cellular network. In order to enable establishment of resources only in cells containing members of the multicast group and to avoid congestion on the uplink channel, a multicast service notification is transmitted to mobile stations, thereby informing members of the multicast group of an upcoming multicast session. The moment for a response to said multicast service notification is selected in the mobile stations and a presence report is sent from at least one of said mobile stations at the response moment of said at least one mobile station. The presence report or reports are received within a radio access network, and radio resources are established for multicast transmission in a cell of the cellular network when the presence report(s) received in said cell meet(s) predetermined criteria.

Methods and systems are provided for filtering digital data formatted in packets. A filter module contains a plurality of filters and is coupled to a filter mapping module. The filter mapping module receives the identification of clusters of discrete segments of a packet and selects a group of fixed length filters to filter the clusters.

A compression context for a plurality of packets is established with a receiving device. Each of these packets is associated with one or more reliable multicast protocols, such as the Layered Coding Transform (LCT) protocol, the Asynchronous Layered Coding (ALC) protocol, the FLUTE protocol, the MUPPET protocol, and the NACK-Oriented Reliable Multicast (NORM) protocol. Upon establishment of the compression context, a compressed packet is generated for one of the plurality of packets and transmitted to the receiving device. The compressed packet has a reduced number of bits in its header. Upon receipt, the receiving device decompresses the compressed packet based on the compression context.

A digital video broadcast (DVB) receiver and methods are provided for processing Internet data. The DVB receiver receives at least one announcement message mapping an Internet protocol address to a transport stream packet identifier.
