The invention relates to a rope anchor for anchoring one or more ropes of an elevator, comprising at least a wedge housing comprising a tapering nest shaped to have a narrow end which is open towards a first direction, and a wide end which is open towards a second direction; and one or more wedge members mounted in the tapering nest for being wedged against a rope passing through the tapering nest; and one or more spring members for urging and/or arranged to urge the one or more wedge member towards the narrow end of the tapering nest; and a releasing mechanism actuatable to move the one or more wedge members () towards the wide end of the tapering nest. The invention also relates to an elevator arrangement comprising said anchor, as well as to a method implementing the arrangement.

The invention relates to a method for monitoring condition of a rope of a hoisting device, which rope comprises one or more load bearing members oriented to extend parallel with longitudinal direction of the rope throughout the length thereof. The method comprises measuring strains of one or more portions of a load bearing member of the rope; and comparing the measured strains of one or more portions of a load bearing member of the rope with at least one reference. The invention also relates to a hoisting device implementing the method.

A method for monitoring a condition of a belt-shaped rope of an elevator, which rope is connected with one or more elevator units of an elevator, includes monitoring lateral positions of successive rope locations, which rope locations pass during use of the elevator via a monitoring zone located in proximity of a crowned rope wheel around which the belt-shaped rope is arranged to turn; gathering lateral position data of the belt-shaped rope, which lateral position data indicates lateral positions of several successive rope locations of the rope at the monitoring zone; analyzing the lateral position data; detecting characteristics in the lateral position data indicating damaged rope; and triggering one or more predefined actions if characteristics indicating damaged rope are detected. An arrangement and an elevator, which implement the method, are also disclosed.

The elevator door panel is formed of a composite material based on reinforcement fibres embedded in a polymer matrix material, the reinforcement fibres being arranged in the polymer matrix material so that the elevator door panel is stiff in a vertical plane, but can be bent to a curve around a vertical corner.

A rope terminal assembly of a hoisting apparatus includes a first compression member having a first contact face and a second compression member having a second contact face. The compression members are placed such that their contact faces face each other and delimit between them a gap. A belt-shaped rope having a thermoplastic polymer coating forming the outer surface of the rope is placed in the gap, the contact faces of the compression members compressing against opposite wide sides of the belt-shaped rope. One or both of the compression members includes on the contact face thereof, and/or in proximity of the contact face thereof, one or more indentations, each indentation forming a cavity in the compression member which is in open connection with the gap and arranged to be empty when the thermoplastic polymer coating of the rope compressed by the contact face is solid, and to receive via said open connection thermoplastic polymer coating of the rope flowing from the gap pushed by the compression when the thermoplastic polymer coating melts.
