A flow control device, a system and a method are disclosed. The flow control device comprises a displaceable means () having a direction of displacement and being displaceable between a first position and a second position. The flow control device further comprises a body () comprising a first cavity () in fluid contact with a first side of the displaceable means () forming a first volume. The first cavity further comprising a first inlet (), a primary outlet () with a primary flow resistance and arranged essentially parallel with the displacement direction, wherein the primary outlet comprises an inlet opening () facing the displaceable means at a first distance () from the displaceable means in the direction of displacement, a secondary outlet () with a secondary flow resistance, wherein the displaceable means is displaceable between a first position and a second position. In the first position, a first fluid path () between the first inlet () and the primary outlet () is provided, and a second flow path () between the inlet () and the secondary outlet () is provided; In the second position, the displaceable means is displaced at least the first distance and close the inlet opening () of the primary outlet, whereby the inlet opening () is blocked, and the second fluid path () between the first inlet () and the secondary outlet () is maintained.

Method and device for flow control

The present invention relates to a pre-packed chromatography cartridge () suitable for flash chromatography. The chromatography cartridge () comprises a barrel () having one end sealed with a cap (), a thread () arranged on the outer cylindrical surface of the barrel () and engaged to a mating thread () on the inner cylindrical surface of the cap (). The barrel is provided with at least one protrusion () arranged on the outer cylindrical surface and below the thread () in the direction from the end sealed by the cap (). The protrusion () extends essentially radially outwards from the outer cylindrical surface of the barrel (). The cap () is provided with a cylindrical flange () arranged below the thread () of the cap (). A locking member () is arranged on the flange () and extends essentially radially inwards from the inner cylindrical surface of the flange (). Together with the protrusion () of the barrel (), the locking member () forms a mechanical connection that secures the cap () such that it cannot be unscrewed from the barrel ().

Chromatography cartridge and method of production thereof

Column

A chromatography column comprises a tubular member () having an open inlet end and an outlet end and being adapted to receive a packing material, and an end piece () inserted through the inlet end of the tubular member (). The end piece () comprises a generally planar inner end portion, and a rounded outer end portion (), adapted to accommodate pressure forces acting on the inner end. The end piece () is fixed to the inner surface of the tubular member () by a weld- or bond-forming joining technique based on non-contact energy transfer, preferably laser welding. A method for manufacturing a pre-packed chromatography column is also disclosed.
