A reconfigurable multiplexer including a plurality of filter and/or duplexers, each respectively associated with a frequency band and can be connected to an antenna connector via a band switch individually or several at the same time. One or more phase shifters capable of adjusting a phasing of a filter or duplexer during a multiplex mode so as to improve the interband insulation in a given multiplex mode. A variable notch can be connected to one of the filters or partial filters of a duplexer.

The invention relates to an HF circuit, for example for use in front-end circuits, having improved signal quality in carrier aggregation. According to the invention, a signal path between a duplexer and a diplexer comprises a phase shifter.

The invention specifies a tunable RF filter which may operate using electroacoustic components and provides good electrical properties despite having a wide tuning range. In an embodiment, the duplexer includes an antenna terminal and two sub-paths including a transmit path and a receive path, the two sub-paths being connected to the antenna terminal, wherein the transmit path includes serially interconnected series resonators and, in parallel therewith, n parallel paths connected to ground, wherein each parallel path includes one parallel resonator or a cascade of serially interconnected parallel resonators, wherein n is an integral number with 0&#x3c;n&#x3c;8, wherein at least one of the n parallel resonators is connected to ground in series with an inductance in the transmit path, and wherein a parallel resonator is connected directly to ground in a first parallel path that is nearest to the antenna terminal and no inductance is arranged in the first parallel path.

Duplexer having improved reflectivity

A multiplexer with excellent electrical properties and a low number of electrical components is provided that may be used in a communication device with two TX paths and two RX paths. The multiplexer comprises three hybrids and two duplexers. Further, a mobile communication device comprising such a multiplexer is provided.

A package for a tunable filter is disclosed. In an embodiment, the tunable filter includes a substrate having a first interconnection plane and a semiconductor device assembled on the substrate in a first component plane, the semiconductor device electrically connected to the first interconnection plane and containing tunable passive components. The filter further includes a control unit arranged in the first component plane, a dielectric layer arranged above the first component plane, a second component plane arranged on the dielectric layer and discrete passive devices arranged in the second component plane and interconnected with the semiconductor device, wherein the tunable passive components are tunable by the control unit.

A circuit arrangement includes an antenna port, a first receiving port, a second receiving port, a first transmission port, and a second transmission port. A number of 90 degree hybrids are configured to transfer an input signal into two output signals that are phase shifted relative to each other. Two quadplexers each include a first duplexer and a second duplexer. The quadplexers and the 90 degree hybrids are interconnected such that a leakage signal travelling from one of the transmission ports to one of the receiving ports destructively interferes at the receiving port.

Circuit arrangement

A front-end circuit with a tunable filter is disclosed. In an embodiment, the front end circuit includes a first signal path connected to an antenna connection, a first filter arranged in the first signal path, wherein the first filter is tunable within a first frequency range, and an extra signal path and a first fixed filter arranged therein, wherein the first fixed filter has a passband for an extra frequency band, wherein the first fixed filter is not tunable, and wherein the extra frequency band is arranged outside or inside the first frequency range. The front end circuit further includes a narrowband antenna tuner configured to be set to a respective tunable frequency range, wherein the narrowband antenna tuner is arranged between the first filter, the first fixed filter and the antenna connection in the first and second signal paths.

A front-end circuit for a wireless communication unit includes at least two antenna feeds. At least one of the antennas is coupled to an antenna switch. The circuit comprises filters and duplexers and is prepared to operate a number of FDD frequency bands. Each FDD band comprises an Rx band for receive signals and a Tx band for transmit signals. The circuit provides a single band operation mode for each frequency band and aggregated band operation modes. In an aggregated band operation mode Rx signals can be received in two different frequency bands at the same time as well as Tx signals can be transmitted in at least one of the two different frequency bands. In addition, TDD bands as well as GSM bands are covered.

The present invention concerns a mobile communication device comprising a ground plane, a main antenna comprising a main radiator (MRAD) that can couple electromagnetically to the ground plane and to a first signal path (SPm), a diversity antenna comprising a diversity radiator (DRAD), a reconfigurable input matching circuit that couples the diversity radiator (DRAD) to the ground plane and to a second signal path (SPd), and a control unit (CU) coupled to the reconfigurable input matching circuit and adapted to change the coupling of the diversity radiator (DRAD) to the ground plane during operation. The present invention further concerns to a method to enhance the performance of the device.

Mobile communication device with improved antenna performance

A wireless communication device (WCD) having improved tuning abilities is provided. The device comprises an absorption element (AE) connected to an additional antenna (MIMOA). RF power coupled from a main antenna (MA) into the additional antenna (MIMOA) is absorbed instead of being re-emitted into the main antenna (MA) and disturbing measurement of the reflected power level.

Antenna arrangement

A filter device and a method for fabricating filter devices can package filters, especially acoustic wave filters, by bonding a carrier (substrate) wafer carrying manufactured filters to another wafer referred to as a capping wafer. A capping wafer/substrate eliminates the need for a conventional package to protect the sensitive filters, which reduces both product size and product costs significantly. Even though additional packaging is possible (i.e. in plastic molded packages, or in glob-top packages), it is not required for the reliability of the filters.
