A shaving unit for a dry shaver includes at least one outer cutter and one under cutter. Driven by a motor, the outer cutter and the under cutter are movable relative to each other in an oscillatory motion. The under cutter and the outer cutter, which are biased into relative engagement by at least one spring, slide along a common contact surface. The spring is arranged in such a way that its biasing force always acts at an angle to the direction of oscillation.

Oscillatory shaver

A cutting head for an electric razor is provided. The cutting head has at least one upper blade and a lower blade associated with the upper blade, which upper and lower blades are movably supported relative to one another and can be driven accordingly by a drive device. The upper blade has a contact surface for the skin to be shaved, which contact surface is formed by a plurality of webs that are each bounded by slots. The longitudinal extent of the webs runs substantially perpendicular to a threading edge bounding the contact surface. The contact surface is designed to be concave and rises towards the threading edge, where the threading edge has an outer radius and this outer radius encloses an angle of less than 90&#xb0;.

The invention relates to a lower cutter () which, together with an associated upper cutter (), forms the shaving head of a dry shaver. The upper cutter is designed in the form of a perforated foil () which at least partially encloses the lower cutter () and is prestressed against the same. The lower cutter () has a plurality of spaced-apart blades having cutting edges () in the form of strips between two peripheral regions (). The lower cutter () is essentially U-shaped in cross section. The width of the strip tapers monotonously from the two peripheral regions () in the direction of the center (Z).

The present invention is directed to an electric shaver having a shaver housing, and a shaving head housing that is connected to the shaver housing for pivotal movement between two end positions. The shaving head housing carries at least two shaving assemblies, of which at least one shaving assembly is retractable into the housing to a first, retracted position, and elastically biased toward a second, extended position, such that extension of the at least one shaving assembly is a function of contact pressure applied by a user. Actuating elements carried by the shaving head housing control a maximum degree of extension of the at least one shaving assembly as a function of a pivot angle between the shaver housing and the shaving head housing.

Electric shaver

An electric shaver has a pivotally mounted longhair cutter unit that is pivoted outward into an operating position by motion of an operating switch of the shaver via an actuator that also causes the cutting blades of the longhair cutter unit to extend from the longhair cutter housing. Because the longhair cutter retracts into the longhair cutter housing when the longhair cutter unit is folded shut, the sharp edges of the blades are protected.
