Example systems and methods of extracting and processing data are described. In one implementation, a method accesses genealogy data (which includes a root node) associated with multiple data sources. The genealogy data is expanded from the root node. The method identifies data objects associated with the genealogy data and identifies a simplification rule to apply to the genealogy data. Data objects in the genealogy data that satisfy the simplification rule are identified by the method. A simplified representation of the genealogy data is generated by replacing each identified data object with a link to a predecessor data object.

Data extraction systems and methods

Example systems and methods of managing product genealogy data across distributed systems are described. In one implementation, a method identifies a material associated with a product that is part of a product batch. Usage information associated with the material is accessed, and a handling unit associated with the product batch is identified. Delivery information associated with the product batch is also accessed. A genealogy is generated for the product batch based on the material, the usage information, the handling unit, and the delivery information.

Batch management systems and methods

Inventory may be managed by affixing to material batches respective documentary batch numbers that are associated with the material batches in a computer system. The material batches may be placed as inventory in a warehouse. The documentary batch number of any of the material batches that is removed from the warehouse may be registered, wherein the documentary batch numbers are not used in managing the inventory. A material batch may be managed by affixing to the material batch a documentary batch number that is associated with the material batch in a computer system. Upon a predetermined action being taken with regard to the material batch, the documentary batch number may be received in the computer system. The documentary batch number may be read from the material batch, wherein any action taken with regard to the material batch before receiving the documentary batch number upon the predetermined action is not tracked.
