The disclosure relates to a method for operating a reciprocating piston engine having a valve controller, the method comprising five operating phases (Ph, Ph, Ph, Ph, Ph), namely a regular combustion engine operation (Ph), an overrun operation (Ph), a shutdown process (Ph), a restart (Ph), as well as a transition back to the combustion engine operation (Ph). During the transition to the overrun operation, a drag torque of the reciprocating piston engine is reduced by adjusting the valve controller. During the shutdown, the drag torque is increased. In the course of the restart that interrupts the shutdown process, the drag torque is temporarily reduced.

The disclosure relates to a hydraulic camshaft phaser for relative rotation between a camshaft and a crankshaft. The camshaft phaser comprising two oppositely acting working chambers to which hydraulic medium pressure can be applied in a controlling manner by means of a hydraulic valve, thereby causing a relative rotation between the camshaft and the crankshaft. A volume accumulator formed by the camshaft phaser collects the hydraulic medium exiting from the working chambers. The volume accumulator is divided into two partial volume accumulators which flank the working chambers in an axial direction and which are connected to one another by a hydraulic medium line which extends axially through the camshaft phaser and is independent of the working chambers.

The invention relates to a gear device for a motor vehicle, as is used, for example, for adjusting a camshaft in a combustion engine in order to influence the phase angle between crankshaft and camshaft. Such gear devices have to be constructed compactly and also have to have high resistance to wear, in particular upon reaching end stops during adjustment of the phase angle. For this purpose, the gear device has hydraulic end stop damping by the drive unit and the output unit having communicating cavities.

A hydraulic camshaft adjuster has a stator, a rotor arranged movably with respect to the stator, and a central valve via which oil supply of working chambers of the hydraulic camshaft adjuster is controlled. A deformable sealing sleeve is arranged between the central valve and the rotor. The sealing sleeve has an initial length in an axial direction, and after assembly, has a deformation such that the length of the sealing sleeve changes from the initial length to an assembled length. The sealing sleeve bears at least partially in the radial direction against the central valve and against the rotor.

A camshaft phaser for the adjusting valve timing of a combustion engine includes a stator and a rotor that can rotate relative to the stator. The rotor is connected to one end of the camshaft via an adapter as well as via a sprocket which is fixedly mounted to the stator. The sprocket is slideably mounted about the camshaft with a first guiding section and is slideably mounted about the adapter with a second guiding section.

An electrically-actuatable camshaft adjuster includes an adjustment gear which has a drive wheel with an external toothing. The adjustment gear also has an additional ring-shaped component which is solidly screwed to the drive wheel. In particular, the drive wheel has internal threading into which outer threading of the ring-shaped component is screwed.

A rotor for a hydraulic camshaft adjuster. The rotor includes a first rotor element and a second rotor element. At least one of the rotor elements has oil channels separated from each other by radially arranged elevations. Each elevation of the first rotor element has a first joining profile and the second rotor element forms a complementary-shaped second joining profile corresponding to the position of each first joining profile, wherein the first and the second joining profile engage with each other in the assembled rotor. The first joining profile of the first rotor element has a notch and an elevation and the second joining profile of the second rotor element has a notch and an elevation formed in such a way that prior to the joining of the two rotor elements, a height of the elevation of the second joining profile, which engages in a notch of the first joining profile, is less than a height of the notch of the first joining profile, and a height of the elevation of the first joining profile, which engages in a notch-of the second joining profile, is less than a height of the notch of the second joining profile.
