A fuel supply system for an internal combustion engine operable using hydrogen and/or for a fuel cell includes a hydrogen tank, which is provided for storing deep-cooled, liquid hydrogen, and a heat exchanger, which is provided for preheating the deep-cooled hydrogen. The heat exchanger is enclosed by a fluid-tight mantle. An intermediate space is provided between the heat exchanger and the mantle, which has a fluid flowing through it, which delivers heat to the heat exchanger and insulates the heat exchanger in relation to the surroundings.

A method and system for venting accumulations of leakage from a vehicle cryo fuel tank system, whereby elements of the tank system like lines, valves and/or a storage container for the fuel are enveloped at least partially by a capsule, the interior of the capsule is vented regularly as a function of at least one boundary condition by a pressure differential, and the exhausted gas from the capsule is treated to reduce its environmental impact. The venting may be performed using an inert gas as the rinsing medium. The gas can be burned or oxidized catalytically, and may be disposed of by a separate burner or by an internal combustion engine of the vehicle. A blower, arranged outside the capsule may generate the pressure differential. Alternatively, the pressure differential may be generated within the capsule by convective forces or a stagnation pressure generated by movement of the vehicle.

To prevent the dirt present in the fuel from depositing on the filter material so that the resistance to the flow through the filter material rises continuously overtime, a fuel system for a vehicle is provided in such a way that the throughflow resistance of the fuel filter remain almost constant. This is achieved as a result of the formation of a deposition tank in a housing of the fuel filter under the filter material located in a housing, in which the dirt from the fuel is deposited and as a result of a pressure accumulator in the fuel system causes the fuel stored in pressure accumulator to rinse the fuel filter after the engine has been switched off.
