The invention relates to a thermal insulation device () for thermal insulation of a metal product in a rolling mill, comprising a support element (), on which a number of thermal insulation elements () is arranged. To extend the service life of such a device, the invention makes provision that at least one thermal insulation device () is formed by multiple side parts (), which enclose within them an accommodating space for a thermal insulation material, wherein at least two of the side parts () are connected with each other at their adjoining side areas by a hinge-like connection ().

Device for increasing the temperature of elongate metallic rolled stock and finishing train for producing and/or working elongate metallic rolled stock

The invention relates to a method for processing heated material (), wherein the material is guided along a conveying path and is covered and protected against heat loss in the region of the conveying path by at least one reflector element (), wherein the reflector element () is cooled by means of a liquid. According to the invention, in order to guarantee efficient cooling of the reflector without costly measures, the liquid is glycol or comprises glycol or the liquid is alcohol or comprises alcohol or the liquid is thermal oil.

Method for processing heated material

The invention concerns a hot-rolling mill comprising a finishing train () for finishing rolling stock, in particular a strip, the finishing train () comprising a number of rolling stands () which follow one another in a conveying direction (F) of the rolling stock. According to the invention, in order to improve the rolling force level during finishing, there is disposed at least between two rolling stands (), following one another in the conveying direction (F), at least one heat-insulating element () by means of which the rolling stock can be protected from heat losses.

Hot-rolling mill

The invention relates to a device () and a method for laterally guiding a slab () on a transport track (), comprising a first guide rule () and a second guide rule (). The guide rules () are arranged opposite each other on both sides of the transport track () and are each connected to at least one actuating drive () so as to move in a direction of a width of the transport track (). The actuating drive can be actuated perpendicularly to the transport direction () of the slab (), wherein the respective longitudinal axis () of the first guide rule () and/or the second guide rule () can be positioned at a specified angle (&#x3b1;) relative to the transport direction () of the slab (). The first and/or the second guide rule () has at least one contact roller () which can be brought into contact with a lateral edge of the slab () in order to guide and/or compress the slab ().

Device and method for laterally guiding a rolled or cast product on a transport track

The invention relates to a method of producing a metal strip () in a plant, comprising a continuous casting plant (), a first furnace (), a second furnace () and an adjoining rolling mill (). In order to save energy, the method provides in accordance with the invention the steps of: a) establishing a scope of production, which is effected, of metal slabs or metal strips (), comprising at least two different metal slabs or metal strips (); b) determining the respective entry temperature (T) into the rolling mill () for all metal slabs or metal strips () to be produced; c) determining an exit temperature (T) from the first furnace (), wherein this is selected to be smaller than the highest entry temperature (T), which is determined in step b), into the rolling mill () and smaller than or substantially the same as the lowest entry temperature (T), which is determined in step b), into the rolling mill (); d) operating the first furnace () in such a manner that the metal slabs or metal strips () to be produced leave the first furnace () with the exit temperature (T) determined in accordance with step c); e) heating or reheating a metal slab, which is to be produced, or a metal strip (), which is to be produced, by means of the second furnace () to its requisite entry temperature (T) in the rolling mill () insofar as this temperature lies above the exit temperature (T), which was determined in accordance with step (d), of the first furnace (). In addition, the invention relates to a plant for producing a metal slab or a metal strip.

Method and plant for producing a metal strip

Energy is recovered from steel products produced in a steel mill where the products are transported into a storage area by first extracting heat from the steel products prior to or after transport into the storage area by heat exchangers for a predetermined period in which residual heat of the steel products is transferred by the heat exchangers into a heat-transfer medium to heat same. The heated transfer medium is then transferred via heat-transfer transport lines for power generation or for direct use of the process heat in other heat consumers. This transport of the heat-transfer medium from the heat exchangers to the power-generating plant in the heat-transfer transport lines is carried out only at pump feed pressure or using as a heat-transfer medium liquid mineral or synthetic thermal oil or a salt melt so as not to build up a steam pressure above 2 bar.

Energy recovery in a steel mill

A method of fabricating a steel strip () including a) providing a functional relationship in a machine controller () between a slab casting speed (v) or the mass flow as a product of casting speed and strip thickness or as a product of strip speed and strip thickness and the strip temperature (t) downstream of the last rolling stand () for a different number (n) of active rolling stands () and different final thicknesses, b) determining or specifying the casting speed (v) or the mass flow (v&#xd7;H) and feeding the determined value into the machine controller (), and c) determining the optimum number of active rolling stands () and the final thicknesses and thickness reductions which can be rolled with them in the rolling train using the functional profiles.

Method for the production of a strip made of steel

The roll gap in a rolling stand for rolled strips is lubricated by feeding water via at least a first feed line and oil via at least a second feed line to at least one mixer, mixing the water and the oil in the mixer, feeding the mixture of water and oil to a sprayer, and spraying the mixture from the sprayer onto at least one work roll or backup roll of the rolling stand. To clean the roll gap hot water or steam is fed via at least one third feed line to one of the first and second feed lines or to the mixer at defined time intervals or as a function of a status of the rolling process while a roll of the rolling stand is being changed.

Method and apparatus for roller lubrication

A continuous-casting unit produces a longitudinally extending and traveling strand having a solid shell and a liquid core. A strand-guiding apparatus has a plurality of longitudinally spaced section frames and respective pairs of roller assemblies carried on the frames and transversely flanking and bearing transversely on the strand. Each pair forms a gap through which the strand passes, and each roller assembly is formed by two aligned subrollers. A respective center is provided bearing between the subrollers of each roller assembly and bracing inner ends of the respective subrollers transversely against the respective frame. Respective outer rollers at outer ends of the subrollers of each roller assembly brace the respective outer ends transversely against the respective frame. The subrollers are shaped or supported on the respective frame such that in an unloaded condition the gap is transversely narrower at the center bearing than at the outer bearing.

Metal-strip guiding apparatus

The invention relates to a method for producing strips () of steel, preferably of silicon steel, in particular of grain-oriented silicon steel or of multiphase steel in which a slab () is initially cast in a casting machine (), wherein this is then rolled in at least one roll train () to form strip () and wherein before and/or after the at least one roll train (), the slab is heated in at least one furnace (). In order to improve the quality and the scope for producing grain-oriented silicon steel or multiphase steel, the invention provides that the slab () is heated to a pre-rolling temperature (T) after the casting machine () and before a pre-roll train () in a first furnace (), or the slab () enters into the pre-roll train () using the casting heat without the presence of the first furnace (), the slab () is then rolled in the pre-roll train (), the slab is then heated after the pre-roll train () in a second furnace () to a defined temperature (T) that is higher than the pre-rolling temperature (T), and then the slab () is rolled to the final strip thickness in a finish roll train ().
