Lenticular lens assembly for mounting on a display surface and mounting method

A screen having a free-viewing mode and a restricted-viewing mode, comprising a backlight emitting light into an unrestricted angular range in the free-viewing mode, and into a restricted angular range in the restricted-viewing mode. A transmissive imager is in front of the backlight. Light sources are outside the display area of the imager, and a transparent plate-shaped light guide scattering particles distributed therein is in front of the imager. In the free-viewing mode, the light sources are off, so that light from the backlight passing the imager passes the light guide unaffected. In the restricted-viewing mode, the lights are on, so that light radiating into a restricted angular range and passing the imager is superimposed by light that is scattered into the viewing space due to irradiation of light from the light guide. Thereby, the visibility of an image on the imager is reduced outside the restricted angular range.

Screen for a free and restricted operating mode

A screen with a transmissive image generator with pixels which is operable in at least two operating modes, B1 for a free viewing mode and B2 for a restricted viewing mode, and with an illuminating apparatus comprising a backlight that has a planar extension and radiates light in a restricted angular range, a plate-shaped light guide arranged in front of the backlight and provided with outcoupling elements on one of the large surfaces and/or within its volume, the light guide being transparent to at least 70% of the light emitted by the backlight; and light sources arranged laterally at edges of the light guide. A lighting device for operation in at least two operating modes: a mode for free viewing and a mode for restricted viewing. The device includes a backlighting system, which in the restricted-viewing mode radiates light in a restricted angular range, a plate-shaped optical element situated along a viewing direction in front of the backlighting system, and illuminants laterally arranged at the optical element. The optical element is configured as a light guide consisting of a matrix plastic and, homogeneously distributed therein, scattering particles of a polymer. The light guide is transparent to at least 80% of the light emitted by the backlighting system. The light laterally incident on the optical element from the illuminants is radiated in a free viewing range; in the restricted-viewing mode, the backlighting system is switched on and the illuminants switched off; in the free-viewing mode, the illuminants are on and the backlighting system is off.

Switchable lighting device and use thereof

A method by which optical filter structures may be applied onto a substrate that is transparent to light at least in the visible wavelength range suitable for a barrier filter. In such a method, an adhesive is applied onto the substrate; then, a photographic film comprising a base film and a photographic emulsion layer applied on it is brought into contact with the adhesive. The optical filter structures are impressed in the photographic emulsion layer by exposure, development and fixation. The side of the film brought into contact with the adhesive is the one that bears the photographic emulsion layer. The adhesive is then spread between film and substrate by means of a roller rolling across the film at a specified contact pressure and a specified feed rate of the roller and thus pressing the film against the substrate. A permanent joint between substrate and photographic emulsion layer is then established by the curing of the adhesive. In a further step, the base film may be thermally separated and removed from the photographic emulsion layer.
