The invention describes an airbag module () for attaching to an instrument panel, comprising an inflator (), a fastening portion () which is arranged so that the airbag module () can be attached to the instrument panel via the fastening portion (), a receiving portion () for an airbag as well as a holding portion () which serves for holding the inflator (). The airbag module () has a support structure () including the fastening portion () and a housing () made from fabric material. The holding portion () is partially configured in a holding area () of the housing () which is opposed to the fastening portion () so that the inflator () is fastened from outside and extends at least partially into the receiving portion (). The support structure () comprises at least one supporting portion () U-shaped in cross-section which at least partially encompasses the housing (). In addition, the support structure () includes a peripheral frame (). Moreover, a subassembly is described.

Airbag module and assembly

The invention relates to an airbag module () for being arranged on an instrument panel () comprising a fastening portion () provided for being arranged on the instrument panel (), an inflator (), an airbag (), a receiving portion () for the airbag () extending from the inflator () to the fastening portion () and a retaining portion () which is accessible from outside of the receiving portion () and serves for retaining the inflator (). The invention also relates to a subassembly comprising an instrument panel () and an airbag module () according to any one of the preceding claims, the fastening portion () of the airbag module () being connected to the instrument panel () and a retainer () formed separately from the airbag module () being provided which is connected to the retaining portion () of the airbag module ().

Airbag module and assembly having an instrument panel and an airbag module

A gas bag module includes a module housing (), a gas bag () having a gas bag wall (), a discharge opening () which can be closed by a closure device (), and a limiting strap (), the limiting strap () being coupled with the gas bag wall () and the closure device (). The limiting strap () is tensioned in case of an unimpeded unfolding of the gas bag () such that the closure device () closes the discharge opening (), and the limiting strap () is guided along the gas bag wall ().

Gas bag module

A gas bag () for a vehicle occupant restraint system includes a limiting strap () which is guided along a wall () of the gas bag (), the limiting strap () being shortened in an initial state by at least one gathered section such that the gas bag () is constricted and is not able to deploy freely, the at least one gathered section being extendable after a predetermined limiting strap tensile force is exceeded, so that the gas bag () may be deployed completely.
