A method and a device for controlling uplink/downlink power for radio communication is disclosed. The method includes receiving a radio communications signal in a radio receiver, estimating one or more parameters indicative of the transmission quality of the received radio communications signal based on power control information bits and pilot symbol bits in the radio communications signal, and generating a control signal for the radio receiver and/or the radio transmitter.

Method and device for radio communication

A receiver, includes a plurality of antennas to receive radio signals from a plurality of transmission paths, and a plurality of sets of RAKE fingers to generate first signals. Each set of RAKE fingers is coupled to a respective one of the plurality of antennas, and a weighting factor generator generates weighting factors for weighting the first signals, wherein the weighting factor for one of the first signals is generated by using first signals generated by at least two of the plurality of sets of RAKE fingers. Further, at least two of the first signals used to generate the weighting factor are received from the same transmission path.

Diversity receiver

A method for calculating zero-crossing reference sequences ({t}) for the data detection of a sequence of zero crossings ({{circumflex over (t)}}) of a received signal is disclosed. The data detection is determined in a receiver, wherein the received signal is based on a data symbol sequence ({d}) angle-modulated at a transmitter and transmitted to the receiver. The zero-crossing reference sequences ({t}) are calculated in accordance with an equation specifying an output of a finite state machine that describes, at least approximately, the signal generation in the transmitter.

The invention relates to a radio receiver for receiving received signals transmitted by radio. The radio receiver includes a demodulation unit for demodulating the received signals and a first estimating unit for estimating the noise power of the received signals. The demodulation unit outputs the demodulated received signals as softbits and sets the weighting of the least significant softbit in dependence on the estimated noise power of the received signals.
