In a drive train that includes an internal combustion engine and two electric drive units, drive torque of the internal combustion engine is superimposed on drive torque of an electric drive unit by means of a planet set to which the drive torque of the internal combustion engine is fed via a sun gear. The torque of the electric drive unit is transferred for different shift positions of a clutch by driving different ring gears of the planet set. The electric drive unit can be coupled directly to the input shaft via a clutch or can be coupled to a sun gear of the pick off gear unit via a clutch.

Drive train compromising an internal combustion engine and two electric drive units

A method and apparatus are provided for switching on and off the internal combustion engine which drives a vehicle by way of a manual transmission. The manual transmission is associated with a clutch for producing and releasing the frictional connection between the internal combustion engine and drive train. The clutch has a clutch operator for producing and releasing the frictional connection to the drive train. The clutch is actuable by a driver by way of a clutch pedal. A variable representing the engaging speed of the clutch operator is detected. If this variable exceeds a limit value, the starting of the internal combustion engine is interrupted.

Method and apparatus for switching on and off the internal combustion engine of a vehicle

A drive system for a motor vehicle includes an internal combustion engine and a transmission. The internal combustion engine has an associated driveshaft, the transmission has an associated transmission shaft, and the driveshaft and the transmission shaft are connected to one another. A free installation space is provided between the internal combustion engine and the transmission in the direction of the driveshaft and, respectively, of the transmission shaft. The internal combustion engine has an associated electric machine which can be operated as a starter/generator. The electric machine has an associated power electronics unit which is arranged in the free installation space.

Drive system for a motor vehicle comprising an electric machine

A method of operating an electric three-phase machine with a polyphase winding arrangement in a vehicle. The phases of the winding arrangement are connected to a vehicle network with the aid of power converters and the winding arrangements are interconnected in a first method of connection for motor operation and interconnected in a second method of connection for generator operation. Switching over from one method of connection to the other is performed at an instant at which the three-phase machine changes from the state of picking up torque to outputting torque, or from the state of outputting torque to picking up torque.

Method for operating an electric generator/motor system

A crankcase for an internal-combustion engine is constructed with a crankcase top and bottom sections made of a light-metal material. Bearing points for a crankshaft and at least one cylinder space are provided. In the region of the bearing points for the crankshaft, respective parts are cast into the crankcase bottom and top sections. The cast-in parts are constructed of a material with a higher modulus of elasticity and a lower coefficient of thermal expansion than the light metal material for the crankcase bottom and top sections. The cast-in parts are constructed for each bearing point as separate, spatially mutually separated members.
