A computer-implemented method for predicting an effect of an intervention on managed computing resources using a first system automation management system, comprising an automated operations controller and at least one automation agent is disclosed. The method comprises sending initial state data of the first system automation management system to a second system automation management system which is a functional duplicate of the first system automation management system, sending a status change command and a related expected response vector, equivalent to a result of the intervention to the second system automation management system, determining, by the second system automation management system, a predicted response vector of the managed computing resources in response to the received status change command, and responding, by the second system automation management system, with the determined response vector and a set of predicted actions derived therefrom.

Predict new system status based on status changes

A computer system may initialize one or more workloads. The computer system may operate in a boost mode and a regular mode. The boost mode may include an adjustment of a pacing setting and an adjustment of group availability targets for executing the one or more workloads. The computer system may identify that the boost mode is enabled during a system start of the computer system. The computer system may identify that the pacing setting is operating in the regular mode. The computer system may dynamically increase the pacing setting. The increase of the pacing setting may enable an increased processor utilization of the computer system by the one or more workloads. The increased processor utilization may generate a concurrent processing of the one or more workloads. The computer system may determine an end of the boost mode and reset the pacing setting.

Adaptive pacing setting for workload execution

A method for automatic data synchronization between a source system and a buffer system. The method includes identifying a configurable set of penalties, wherein each penalty defines a number of penalty points associated with a respective one of a plurality of events related to data set stored by the source system. The method also includes, in response detecting one or more events, calculating a total penalty score using the penalty points corresponding to each of the events. The method also includes determining that the total penalty score satisfies a predetermined penalty threshold indicating that the copy of the data set stored on the buffer system is presumed stale and, in response, initiating a data replication operation that updates the copy of data set stored on the buffer system with current data from the data set stored on the source system.

Automatic replication of ambiguous data based on a point system

The present invention provides a method to resolve ambiguities for monitoring and automating UNIX processes by providing a multi-level filter routine and search approach that interrogates the active process table to identify the specific process by matching unique process criteria stored during configuration of the automation product. The filter and search method goes beyond process name, as process names are often not unique in UNIX environments, and includes process parameters and information by which the process was invoked.

Method to resolve ambiguities for monitoring and automating UNIX processes

The present invention describes a method to synchronize performance data in a computer network system. All specified performance data of a single system collected by way of a network-wide uniformly clocked scanning interval are sorted according to their interval start time in ascending order and their actual scanning intervals in descending order. The first items of performance data sorted form the first common interval. All subsequent performance data are assigned to that interval, provided the mid point of their actual scanning interval falls within the common interval. The performance data which are no longer assigned to the first interval form the basis for a subsequent interval. The method is continued until all performance data are assigned to a common interval. The advantages of the present invention lie in the fact that the synchronized performance data are displayable in tabular form unambiguously and without gaps, and thus are available for postprocessing, for example as a bar chart. Manual evaluation is no longer necessary. The performance data can be subjected with no manual editing to a test and control program which evaluates the performance data and adapts the single systems to the specified performance data.
