An apparatus for direct optical recording of security-related objects with a series of layers comprising a cover layer with an object placement surface, a sensor layer, a spacer layer with spacer structures for limiting light incident from the placement surface to small incident angles on the sensor layer, and a substrate as carrier of the series of layers. To capture security-related objects with good contrast over a large surface, the sensor pixels have a light-sensitive element and a passage region, and the spacer layer is produced by spacer structures provided on the sensor layer or by spacer structures formed from existing raised-shaped function elements, and the spacer layer comprises cutouts in the region of the entrance aperture of every light-sensitive element, each cutout filled with a medium having a refractive index lower than that of the sensor layer and a layer adjoining in a direction of the placement surface.

Apparatus for the direct optical recording of security-related objects such as skin prints

A display with integrated matrix sensor for the optical recording of the papillary structure of at least one finger (F), in which an angular diaphragm with an aperture is arranged in each instance in front of the individual sensor elements of the matrix sensor, which aperture is offset relative to the sensor element in each instance in an offset direction (R). Because of different dimensioning of the apertures and/or different offset directions (R), the acceptance angle of the sensor elements of the matrix sensor is also influenced in direction orthogonal to the offset directions (R) so that the display is suitable for making a recording having an isotropic and high contrast. The invention is also directed to a method by which, using a display according to the invention with integrated matrix sensor, an initial recording is transformed into a corrected recording having an at least approximately isotropic and high contrast.

An apparatus for direct optical capture of security-relevant objects such as at least skin prints and documents produces a contrast between skin ridges and skin valleys in direct optical sensors for capturing skin prints in the range of contrast of conventional systems with frustrated total internal reflection. A contrast enhancing layer is provided with one contrast shield associated with each light-sensitive element of the sensor layer. The associated contrast shield is arranged at a distance above the light-sensitive element and has a surface area at least as large as an active region of the light-sensitive element). The contrast shield is arranged at a distance above the light-sensitive element such that at least 60% of the active region is covered. The illumination layer has a plurality of point light sources which emit in direction of the placement surface in an angular area limited for preventing total internal reflection.

Apparatus for the direct optical capture of skin prints and documents

A device for direct optical recording of skin prints offers recording of human skin prints for personal identification permitting a display layer directly below the placement surface. A light guide layer arranged below the sensor layer has at least one LED at a narrow side and light out-coupling structures which, by means of an inclination angle c and differences in the refractive indices relative to neighboring layers, permit a directed coupling out of light at a defined angle which results in total internal reflection at the placement surface at the air interface and with a small divergence angle range of &#x2264;+/&#x2212;15&#xb0;. A device and method for direct optical recording of live skin areas, particularly of fingerprints or handprints, is disclosed. A novel possibility for direct optical recording of human skin prints with forensic quality where interference through ambient light is excluded is achieved in that, from a skin area to be recorded, image data of a calibration image generated under homogeneous illumination from an areal source and ambient light that may be present are read out from the sensor array, an adapted illumination pattern is calculated by means of the stored calibration image such that, through application of the adapted illumination pattern, a two-dimensionally structured illumination pattern is generated to minimize the influence of the ambient light and to homogenize the illumination at least of the deposited skin print, wherein an illumination array is controlled in individual light-emitting elements or in groups of light-emitting elements with the calculated illumination pattern.

A device for contact-based capture of human autopodial prints using disturbed total internal reflection, comprising a protective body with a contact surface, a sensor layer comprising light-sensor elements in an array for detecting light of a predefined wavelength range, and a light guide. Passband areas transparent for light of the predefined range are between the sensor elements. The light guide is transparent to light in the range and includes parallel lower and upper faces. The faces define a coupling-in surface for light emitted from a light source in a limited angular range around a preferred direction. Due to the directed angle of incidence, light entering the light guide is totally internally reflected at the faces. A mirror layer between the sensors and the guide reflects some light back into the light guide and transmits other light. Light exiting the guide is homogenized dependent upon a distance to the light source.

The invention is directed to an arrangement for the optoelectronic recording of large-area fingerprints, particularly for acquiring prints of the entire palm of the hand. The object of the invention is to find a novel possibility for recording the papillary ridge pattern of a hand which permits a complete optoelectronic image recording with one-time placement of large-area concave skin parts without the use of optical beam paths that are subject to contamination and without having to accept a loss of resolution. This object is met, according to the invention, in that the support body for supporting the skin parts has the basic shape of a cylinder providing a portion of the outer surface with a sufficient radian measure and radius as support surface, the end faces of the support body are each provided with a conical recess which is arranged coaxially around the cylinder axis in order to couple in an illumination beam path and an imaging beam path through the surface lines of the conical recesses, and the imaging beam path and a linearly extending image sensor are rotatable synchronously around the cylinder axis in order to record successive line-shaped strips of the frustrated total reflection at the illuminated outer surface of the support body with the supported skin part.

The invention is directed to an arrangement and a method for checking optical diffraction structures (e.g., kinegrams) on documents. The object of the invention, to find a novel possibility for checking optical diffraction structures on documents which permits detection of the presence and authenticity of optical diffraction structures quickly and economically with respect to apparatus, is met according to the invention in that the sensor unit is arranged orthogonally above the support surface of the document, and in that the illumination unit contains at least two monochromatic light sources which are arranged so as to emit light bundles at defined incident angles with respect to a surface normal of the document directed to the diffraction structure and which can be switched on sequentially. At least one light source has an incident angle that corresponds in direction and degree to a diffraction angle at which an intensity maximum of the diffraction pattern that is generated in a structure-specific manner would occur if the diffraction structure were illuminated from the direction of the sensor unit.

Arrangement and method for checking optical diffraction structures on documents

A method and an arrangement for recording intensity patterns occurring on a contact surface by frustrated total reflection, particularly for low-distortion recording of relatively large-area fingerprints, handprints or footprints or other parts of the skin. It is an object of the invention to find a novel possibility for recording intensity patterns occurring on a support surface according to the principle of frustrated total reflection which achieves a high-resolution, low-distortion image of the intensity pattern using simple optical arrangements. This object is met, according to the invention, in that a support surface for the measurement object is illuminated homogeneously by a light source at an angle of total reflection, an image of the support surface is imaged on the image sensor as an intensity pattern only by of an imaging optical system, so that the image is imaged on the image sensor so as to be distorted but sharp in all parts of the image, and light from the light source which is totally reflected at the support surface enters parallel to the axis of the optical system, the image of the support surface is scanned by the image sensor with substantially more image elements (pixels) than those required for the desired resolution in the output-side final image of the intensity pattern, and the optoelectronically converted, trapezoidally distorted image is rectified by displacement, interpolation and averaging operations based on the generation of combined pixel data from a data surplus occurring as a result of the increased quantity of recorded pixels compared to the necessary quantity of pixels in the final image.

An arrangement for detecting the surface structures of fingers, palms or other parts of the skin placed on an image scanning surface, wherein the image scanning surface is formed at a scanning prism, an illumination beam path is directed to the image scanning surface in the interior of the scanning prism, and the light reflected from the latter impinges on the reception surface of an optoelectronic detection device. In an arrangement of the type described above, a part of the illumination beam path or a separate illumination beam path is directed to reference structures which are fixed in place and, from the latter, to the reception surface, wherein separate partial areas of the reception surface are reserved for the detection of the surface structures and for the detection of reference structures.
