A connecting arrangement having a partition and a plurality of contact pins is disclosed. Each contact pin has two contact portions and a fastening portion electrically connecting the contact portions to each other, the contact portions each being arranged so as to be accessible from one side of the partition. The connecting arrangement also has a plurality of contact chambers into which the contact pins are arranged, a radially resilient sealing sleeve arranged in each contact chamber, and at least one seal. The seal is configured as a radially outwardly projecting circumferential annular web being arranged on the fastening portion of each contact pin and being sealingly pressed into the sealing sleeve.

Connecting arrangement and contact pin

A single-piece electrical contact element is provided, having a substantially cylindrical contact tube for resiliently receiving a contact pin. A contact tube main part extends over a substantial part of the contact tube length and a first circumferential sub-region of the contact tube circumference. At least one radially resilient spring arm, connected to one circumferential end of the contact tube main part extends over a second circumferential sub-region of the contact tube circumference. The spring arm projects radially outwardly in a first circumferential region adjacent to the contact tube main part and has a cylindrical free-standing circumferential end region.

Electrical contact element

The contact member defines a channel having a base from which project side walls bowed in portions of which define wire slots. Inwardly convergent wings surmounting each wire slot have insulation severing edges. When a lead is forced into the channel the edges sever the insulation of the lead so that the crests of the bowed portions engage the core of the lead. The wings are then bent across the channel to hold the lead down therein. The portions merge with dimples in the base so that the side walls and the base are continuous as seen in cross section through the wire slots, so that the rigidity of the contact member and the contact force exerted against the core, are improved.

Electrical contact member

The housing, which is of circular cross section, defines a series of spaced, terminal-receiving cavities arranged in a ring about the axis of the housing. An annular terminal retainer is received in an annular recess in the housing, at the outer periphery of a ring of terminal cavities. The retainer is provided with radially inwardly projecting terminal retaining members. The retainer ring can be moved between a first position, in which the terminal-retaining members are clear of the cavities, to allow terminals to be inserted into the cavities and a second angular position in which each retaining member intersects a respective cavity to overlie a collar on the respective terminal therein so that it is locked in its cavity.
