In a method and a device for position detection of a material web (), the position of the material web () is determined on the basis of a marking () provided thereon. This marking () is detected by a first sensor (), which emits a position signal () proportional to the position of the marking (). The material web () is furthermore detected by a second sensor (), which emits a signal proportional to the velocity of the material web () transversely to the movement direction (). An output signal (), which represents position-proportional values of the material web () even when the position signal () fails, is then calculated from the velocity signal () and the position signal ().

A sensor () serves for capturing a moving material web (). It has at least one light source () and at least one light detector (). At least one polarization element () is provided between the two, which polarization element influences polarization properties of the light transmitted by the polarization element () as a function of an electric field. Markings such as for example metal strips () in the material web () can thus be captured in the light detector () without problem.

A sensor () serves for capturing the moving material web (). It has light sources (') and at least one light detector (). The light sources (&#x2032;) generate emission light () having different polarization. An apparatus () serves for linear illumination of a moving product web (), the apparatus () having at least one light source () emitting light. In order to achieve high luminance in a linear subregion of the product web (), at least a portion of the light emitted by the light source () is reflected towards the product web () by at least one tubular reflector (). The tubular reflector () in this case has at least one light exit slit () which is assigned to the product web (). Moreover, the tubular reflector has at least one observation slit () which lies opposite the light exit slit (). The illuminated product web () can be observed through this observation slit () by means of a line camera ().

Apparatus for linear illumination of a moving product web

In the case of a method for sensing a marking () of a running web of material (), the web of material is optically scanned by an image recording device (). This generates in successive measuring cycles image signals which are fed to an image processing device (). This image processing device () determines the positional values of the marking () of the web of material (). A validity signal is generated from these positional values by applying a position-dependent weighting function and is output. This validity signal indicates whether the currently determined positional value is valid.

Method for sensing a marking on a running web of material

A method and an apparatus () are used to detect the position of the edge () of a moving product web (). The apparatus () has piezoelectric elements (), which firstly output ultrasonic pulses () and secondly pick them up and convert them into an electrical signal. The product web () is arranged between the piezoelectric elements () and a reflector () for this purpose. If the product web () is located in the measurement range of the piezoelectric element (), it attenuates the ultrasonic pulses as a result of reflection or absorption during the double passage of the latter. The position of the product web edge () is calculated from this attenuation.

Method and apparatus for detecting the position of the edge of a moving product web

A device serves for optically scanning a moving material web. The device is formed by a CCD camera comprising a lens and a CCD receiving element, which is provided with photodiodes. So as to be able to exactly adjust the area of the material web scanned by means of the device, the CCD receiving element can be adjusted transversely in relation to the optical axis of the lens. For adjusting the CCD receiving element, a template with a structure is provided. This structure is detected by the photodiodes, and the signals emitted by the photodiodes act on a controlling device. The controlling device adjusts the CCD receiving element so that it is aligned with the structure of the template.

Device for optically scanning a moving web of material and method for adjusting said device

A device for detecting the marginal edge or a marking of a material web. The device contains an optical sensor and two light sources associated with the optical sensor. The first light source emits directed light beams and aims such beams at the material web. The first light source is formed by a plurality of light-emitting diodes, arranged such that the light reflected by the material web in a diffused manner cannot be detected by the optical sensor. A second light source is also associated with the optical sensor. The second light source contains a diffuser disk. The diffuser disk generates diffused light that is emitted in all three-dimensional directions. When the second light source is active, the condition of reflection is satisfied so that it is possible to scan the material web having mirror-like reflection.
