A cassette with a recording medium, in particular a magnetic recording medium, is designed with a displaceable identification part which can be pushed into the cassette housing. For this purpose, a web is provided behind a cassette opening in a cassette wall, which web runs at an angle with respect to the cassette wall. It is also possible to provide a web which is approximately parallel to the cassette wall, and the identification part, designed as a slide, is provided with a front beveling, in the opening sliding direction, in order to push the slide partially past the edge of the cassette wall located in the opening direction. The cassette can be used for recording/reproducing signals of any type, and any functions of the associated cassette apparatus can be controlled indirectly by the positionally displaceable identification part.

A pressure spring for tape cassettes which consists of a spring steel strip which is, in particular, narrow and is of roughly uniform width comprises a flat central part and curved spring arms adjacent to said part and having a continuous curve. The flat central part has, as fastening parts, holes with indented fastening collars which, together with rivet pegs and recesses in a housing wall, form a roughly projection-free spring fastening, the riveted peg ending roughly at the spring surface. The pressure spring exhibits a straight line with a defined slope in the operating region of its spring characteristic. The pressure spring can be used for tape cassettes of all types, in particular for video cassettes.

A locking/unlocking means for cassettes, in particular those having swivel cover flaps, consists partially or completely of elastically deformable material and is pivotably mounted at two or more points. In the rest position of the locking/unlocking means, advantageously a swivel plate, an essentially tension-free arrangement is obtained by means of a supporting extension above the bearing axis, by actuation from outside, the said arrangement being converted in the operating state, without further spring elements, into a state of tension and into a position in which the supporting extension rests against the inside of an outer cassette wall and a reaction force corresponding to the actuating force is generated without any additional spring. Such a locking/unlocking means is suitable for cassettes of all types.

A guide means for tapes to be transported, in particular in tape cassettes or tape apparatus, comprises a support element and a flexible guide strip, in particular one made of metal foil, fixed on this, and at least one holding element for the end sections of the flexible guide strip. The guide strip possesses a predetermined thickness and may be drop-shaped or pear-shaped in the operating position. The tape guide means may also comprise a support element whose surface is at least partially cylindrical and a flexible guide strip which is fastened thereon. As a separable unit which can be preassembled, the tape guide means can therefore also be employed for automatic manufacture. The tape guide means can be used for tape guides which are either stationary or movable within limits, in the field of tape-like recording media, such as films, magnetic tapes, punched tapes, etc.

A plate spring for tape cassettes advantageously consists of two long and two short spring arms whose shapes and dimensions are optimized to achieve minimum wastage of material during punching from a sheet-metal strip. The length of the fastening arms is preferably about the same as the width of the ends of the long spring arms or less or at most 1.5 times the width. The spring can be used for all types of tape cassettes, regardless of whether they contain magnetic tape, film or other recording media. A tape cassette possesses a plate spring which has this form and is fastened by welding.
