Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A communication device may receive a beacon signal and, in response, may transmit a preamble based on an indicated preamble configuration. In some examples, the received beacon signal may be associated with one or more power signature identifier. In some cases, the communication device may determine a set of resource elements based on the one or more power signature and may transmit the preamble based on the determined set of resources elements. In some cases, in response to receiving the beacon signal, the communication device may transmit a report including an indication of the subset of resource elements. In some examples, a communication device may transmit a preamble that may include a request for cell information associated with a received beacon signal.

Link establishment using leaky-wave antennas

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) may select a weight vector, from a plurality of stored weight vectors, for enabling a spatially multiplexed communication, between a transmitter and a receiver, that includes two or more layers for each polarization of a plurality of polarizations for the spatially multiplexed communication. The RIS may receive the spatially multiplexed communication from the transmitter. The RIS may transmit the spatially multiplexed communication to the receiver in accordance with the weight vector. Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for a beam refinement procedure. According to certain aspects, a method for wireless communications by a receive node generally includes receiving, from a transmit node, a configuration indicating channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) resources and an indication of at least one receive beam for the receive node to use for measuring CSI-RS transmitted on the CSI-RS resources and transmitting, to the transmit node, a report indicating a value generated using a function that combines measurements taken on the CSI-RS resources.

Bidirectional channel statistics-based beam refinement

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitted may use a closed loop precoder for line-of-sight (LOS) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications that uses information such as distance feedback or LOS MIMO channel state feedback. A closed loop precoder may be associated with less overhead than a precoder based on full channel knowledge, such as an SVD precoder. A receiver may estimate a channel based on channel state information reference signals transmitted by the transmitter and calculate a spectral efficiency for one or more precoders of a set of precoders associated with the channel for a LOS MIMO mode. The receiver may send feedback to the transmitter that indicates a selected precoder of the set of LOS MIMO precoders based on the calculated spectral efficiencies. The transmitter may precode messages using the reported closed loop precoder.

Method and apparatus for codebook design for closed loop operation

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may generate an input signal including information for transmission over a wireless channel. The UE may perform a first waveform shaping stage on the input signal to increase an in-band emissions ratio and reduce a peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of the input signal. The UE may perform a second waveform shaping stage on the output of the first waveform shaping stage to reduce an adjacent channel leakage ratio of the output of the first waveform shaping stage. The UE may then transmit a signal over the wireless channel based on an output of the second waveform shaping stage.

Techniques for waveform compression

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. When operating in a high-pathloss mode, wireless devices in a network may transmit or receive downlink control information (DCI) that schedules a transmission time interval (TTI) for a physical shared channel (such as a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) or a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH)). A wireless device may determine one or more intervals that correspond to a periodic signal that collides with portions of the TTI. Based on the identified intervals, the wireless device may communicate over the physical shared channel during the TTI. In such cases, the TTI may overlap in time with the one or more intervals to allow communication of the periodic signal during the portions of the TTI. For instance, a periodic signal may be transmitted or received during each of the one or more intervals.

Beam management for high-pathloss mode operations

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A node (e.g., a base station or network entity) may identify a signal that provides an indication of a location of a contention free random access channel (CFRA) resource within a time region and an indication of a timing pattern for the CFRA resource, the timing pattern associated with a pattern of subsequent instances of the time region in which the CFRA resource is repeated, wherein the CFRA resource is not a fully overlapping resource with respect to a contention based random access (CBRA) resource. The node may convey the signal to one or more user equipment (UE) to indicate the location and the timing pattern.

Different periodicities may be dynamically selected when monitoring and transmitting signaling used for link management, where respective periodicities may be based on the quality of the link between devices. For instance, a first wireless device may use a first monitoring periodicity to monitor for signals transmitted from another wireless device. Upon determining that a link condition has changed (e.g., decreased or reached a threshold), the first wireless device may decrease its monitoring periodicity (and increase monitoring frequency) to detect signals transmitted by the other wireless device more frequently. In such cases, the other wireless device may likewise transmit its measurement signals more often (e.g., in accordance with a second periodicity) based on the link quality. The adjusted monitoring and transmission periodicities may provide additional occasions for the wireless device to detect signals from another device.

Synchronization signal periodicity adjustment

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and devices for wireless communication that support power headroom differential reporting for reference resource signals transmitted at different transmission power than other uplink transmissions. In a first aspect, a method of wireless communication includes determining a power headroom value, by a user equipment (UE), using a maximum configured transmission power and a transmission power configured for an uplink transmission at a configured modulation and coding scheme (MCS). The UE determines a reference resource signal power headroom value using the maximum configured transmission power and a reference resource signal transmission power configured for a reference resource signal transmission, calculates a reference resource power headroom differential between the power headroom value and the reference resource signal power headroom value, and transmits a report including the uplink transmission power headroom value and the reference resource power headroom differential. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Power headroom differential reporting

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device (e.g., a user equipment and/or base station) may operate in a first mode in a wireless network over a radio frequency spectrum band. The wireless device may receive a signal indicating that a value of the radio frequency spectrum band has satisfied a threshold value. The wireless device may switch, based at least in part on the signal indicating that the value has satisfied the threshold value, from the first mode to a second mode for wireless communications in the wireless network, wherein a first length of a first synchronization signal block associated with the first mode is shorter than a second length of a second synchronization signal block associated with the second mode.

Support of high pathloss mode

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques enable a first wireless device (e.g., an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node in an TAB system) or a network entity (e.g., a centralized unit (CU) in the TAB system) to select a set of wireless devices for communication. The first wireless device, the CU, or both may select the set of wireless devices for communication based on a pathloss mode of the first wireless device, whether an angular separation between a group of nodes (e.g., one or more of the set of wireless devices) is less than an angular separation threshold, or both. The first wireless device may communicate with the set of wireless devices with one or more communications beams. For example, the device may communicate with multiple wireless devices using a single communication beam if the angular separation between the multiple devices is relatively low.

In some examples, the array antenna includes a first array of antenna elements arranged according to a first circle and a second array of antenna elements arranged according to a second circle, where the first circle and the second circle are concentric circles. In some examples, the first array of antenna elements is arranged with an angular offset with respect to the second array of antenna elements. For example, a first radius associated with a first antenna element of the first array of antenna elements may be offset at an angle with respect to a second radius of a second antenna element of the second array of antenna elements.

A communication device, such as a base station or a user equipment (UE) may generate a beacon signal based on a nonuniform power spectral density configuration. The communication device may transmit control signaling indicating a nonuniform power spectral density profile associated with the beacon signal. The nonuniform power spectral density profile may indicate a respective power offset associated with the beacon signal for one or more subset of resource elements of a set of resource elements. The communication device may transmit the beacon signal. Additionally or alternatively, the communication device may receive control signaling indicating the nonuniform power spectral density profile associated with the beacon signal. Based on the nonuniform power spectral density profile, the communication device may receive the beacon signal.
