A cosmetic preparation in gel form is described which contains undissolved, water-swollen polymer particles and at the interface with gaseous substances forms reversibly a grainy, uneven, light-scattering surface and at the interface with solids forms reversibly a smooth, level, non-light-scattering surface. Preferred gel formers are superabsorbing polymers. A preferred use is the hair-end protection in permanent wave treatment.

Pro-dyes of direct dyes having an enzymatically-labile functionality, e.g. glutaramide derivatives of direct dyes of formula (I) or their physiologically acceptable salts, are described, as well as compositions for dyeing keratinous fibers containing these pro-dyes, as well as compositions for dyeing keratinous fibers containing a combination of at least one pro-dye and at least one enzyme capable of cleaving the glutaramide functionality in the pro-dye. A method for dyeing keratinous fibers with the aforementioned dyeing compositions is also described.

Cosmetic agent in the form of a gel

The handheld hair dryer for generating a heated air stream has a blower for generating an air stream, an electric heater for heating the air stream, a catalytic odor filter for deodorizing the air stream and a thermal radiator for heating the catalytic odor filter. The electric heater and the catalytic odor filter are separate from each other so that the active surface area of the catalytic odor filter can be maximized to deodorize the air stream. The thermal radiator is also separate from the electric heater.

The solid, form-stable gel for hair treatment contains an aqueous or aqueous-alcoholic base; from 0.5 to less than 2 percent by weight of a carrageenan or a mixture of carrageenans and at least one carrageenan-amount-reducing additive selected from the group consisting of hair fixing polymers, amphiphilic associative thickeners, monoalcohols with 1 to 5 carbon atoms and polyalcohols with 2 to 5 carbon atoms. The carrageenan or mixture of carrageenans and the at least one additive are contained in the gel in respective amounts so that the gel is solid and form-stable, i.e. has a resistance of at least 0.15 N to a compressive force applied at 2000 and 65% relative humidity by means of an 8 mm diameter cylindrical piston that is depressed at a rate of 0.5 mm/s until a compression depth of 1 mm is reached after which the piston is removed at a rate of 0.5 mm/s.

Solid, form-stable gels for hair treatment

A hair treatment composition contains one or more polymers or copolymers, each of which is made from one or more monomers, in a cosmetic foundation. The respective monomers are selected from the group consisting of ethylenic unsaturated saccharides, ethylenic unsaturated saccharic acids, derivatives of ethylenic unsaturated saccharides and derivatives of ethylenic unsaturated saccharic acids. The unsaturated sachharides and saccharic acids are present in cyclic or open chain form.
