A retaining body for a grinding structure, in particular a grinding wheel, includes a fixing layer with a fixing surface. The fixing surface has a fixing structure configured to fix a flexible grinding structure, and includes a support body with a support surface. The support surface supports a fixing layer retaining surface that lies opposite the fixing surface, and is connected to the retaining surface. The support body is air- and dust-permeable, and includes an air- and dust-permeable material. The fixing layer is configured such that the fixing surface is substantially air- and dust-permeable in a direction that runs substantially perpendicular to the fixing surface, and such that an air flow can pass from the fixing surface through the fixing layer in a substantially perpendicular manner relative to the fixing surface.

A mounting element for holding a self-adhesive and/or flexible abrasive includes a supporting plate, and a distributing body. The supporting plate includes a plurality of suction openings which penetrate the supporting plate from a first side to a second side opposite the first side. A first side of the distributing body is in contact with the second side of the supporting plate, and a second side of the distributing body is configured to hold an abrasive. The distributing body includes a plurality of cavities which penetrate the distributing body from the first side of the distributing body to the second side of the distributing body, and which are mutually separated by a plurality of walls. At least one of the walls has at least one aperture which connects at least two adjacent cavities to each other.

A holding body includes a fastening layer which has a fastening surface configured to fasten a flexible grinding device. The fastening layer includes an air- and dust-permeable material and is substantially full-surface. The fastening layer includes a textile material. The holding body also includes a supporting body which has a supporting surface configured to support a holding surface of the fastening layer. The supporting body is air- and dust-permeable and includes an open-cell foam. A grinding system includes such a holding body and such a flexible grinding device.
