System and process for handling clips with annotations. A user annotates a document that is displayed in an access session. Information is gathered regarding the annotation, which is associated with active content included in the document. The annotation is stored with a static image of the active content. A link to the content is stored. An image is rendered that has a clip including the stored annotation and the image of the content, and is displayed.

User interfaces, methods, systems, and computer-readable media for activating and/or displaying text input systems on display devices may include: (a) displaying a text input system activation target at a user changeable location on a display device; (b) receiving user input directed to the activation target; and (c) activating a text input system in response to the user input. Such user interfaces, methods, and systems further may include (d) displaying a pre-interaction condition of the activation target; (e) receiving user input directed to the activation target in this pre-interaction condition; and (f) changing an appearance of the activation target from the pre-interaction condition to a larger size and/or a different visual appearance in response to this user input. Additional aspects of this invention relate to computer-readable media for providing user interfaces, systems, and methods as described above.

Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for invoking an electronic ink or handwriting interface

An interface is provided between a handwriting receiving panel and an auto complete process. A user writes onto the handwriting receiving panel which recognizes the handwritten text. The handwritten text is forwarded to the auto complete process which provides suggested content to the user based on the handwritten text. The user can select the suggested content for use with another application. Alternatively, the user may add additional information to the handwriting receiving panel to enable the auto complete process to provide more or different suggested content.

A system and process for harvesting context information from selected content is described. One may use a stylus to indicate what content is to be captured. The context information that may be associated with selected content may include URLs, file names, folder names, text from the content, and ink.

A system and process for handling clips with annotations is provided. A user annotates a document. The system gathers context information regarding the clip and displays the clip or clips with annotations to the user. A system for showing clips of content and annotations may include an input for receiving content and annotations, a processor creating a renderable image having the clips with at least one of the clips being a combination of two or more annotations, and an output for outputting the renderable image. A method of displaying clips may include receiving at least two sets of an annotation and related content, filtering the received, combining the filtered output, and displaying a combination of the filtered output.

Organization of annotated clipping views

In an embodiment, a software keyboard includes a software key with a first label and a second label, where both the first and the second label are visible. The first label may be displayed on the software key so as to indicate that the first label is active. In an embodiment, the user may provide an input so as to make the second label active and the change may be indicated on the software key. In an embodiment, the arrangement of the first and second labels may be adjusted in response to a resizing of the software keyboard.
