Method and devices for dynamically preventing printing errors caused by a media deformation are disclosed. In one example, a pen to print media space (PPS) distance is measured. A media deformation is identified in response to measuring the PPS distance. A corrective function is identified in response to identifying the media deformation. The corrective function identified is then performed. The proposed method provides for consistent quality across a print.

Method of computing a convex hull in a predetermined color space, comprising determining a print attribute value range pertaining to a reference print attribute value, selecting base NP (Neugebauer Primary) area coverages, comprising area coverages of single NPs and combined NPs, having print attribute values in the print attribute value range, printing and measuring patches corresponding to the base NP area coverages, computing linear combinations of the base NP area coverages, and assigning one of the base NP area coverage or the linear combination of base NP area coverages to the corresponding color, depending on which is closest to the reference print attribute value.

Printing system

The invention relates to a color printing device, whereby the color printing device comprises a reciprocating color measurement device and a reciprocating optical density sensor, to a mobile carriage comprising a color printhead, a color measurement device and an optical density sensor and to a color measurement method comprising the following steps: identify the position of a pattern on a two-dimensional media using a mobile optical density sensor; derive the position of a color patch on the media from the position of the pattern; measure the color of the color patch using a color measurement device.

Printing device, carriage and color measurement method

A printer is configured to print a color target that associates colors to which humans are most sensitive to color variance with areas of the color target within which color measurement is less prone to meassurement error. The printer then prints the color target according to the association. In an optional impemementation, measurements of like color elements within the target are average. In a further optional impementation, the averaging is performed using weighted values, wherein the weighting is based on color measurement accuracy within an area within the color target wherein each measured element is located. In a still further implementation, a color look-up table is generated according to measurements made of the color target.

In one embodiment, a print system includes an anticipated ambient lighting selector to allow selection of an anticipated ambient lighting. A rendering module is configured to map a print job into raster data configured to reduce color cast in gray output when displayed under the anticipated ambient lighting.
