A switched mode power supply (SMPS) employs only energy storage components that are devoid of ferromagnetic materials. The SMPS operates only at switching frequencies such that any potential electromagnetic interference of interest is generated at frequencies appearing only outside the imaging bandwidth of a corresponding magnetic resonance imaging system powered by the SMPS.

Magnetic resonance imaging compatible switched mode power supply

Embodiments of the present disclosure include a magnetic resonant imaging (MRI) system including a gradient driver configured to deliver a pulse sequence to gradient coils in the MRI system. The gradient driver may be interleaved, and may include two or more interleaved drivers, such that a high amplitude pulse may be output by operating the two interleaved parts of the gradient driver while spreading the electrical loss and maintaining the thermal stability of the system. In one embodiment, each interleaved driver may be rated to output approximately half a maximum amplitude of a current utilized by the gradient coil, and only one interleaved driver may be in operation if only one interleaved driver is sufficient for delivering a necessary pulse to the coils. Further, the interleaved drivers may alternate in operation to maintain thermal stability in the switching semiconductors of the gradient driver.

Magnetic resonant imaging gradient driver architecture

A method for making a magnetic component is provided. The method comprises providing a core with one or more ridges protruding from one or more surfaces of the core, depositing one or more electrically conductive materials on the core, and removing at least a portion of the one or more ridges to form one or more continuous conductors wound around the core. Each of the one or more continuous conductors defines at least one insulating gap. Further, a magnetic component and methods for making the magnetic component are also presented.

Methods for making magnetic components

A gradient amplifier system is presented. An embodiment of a gradient amplifier system that includes a power stage having a plurality of bridge amplifiers, where each of the plurality of bridge amplifiers operates at a first switching frequency. The gradient amplifier system further includes a gradient coil coupled to an output terminal of the power stage and configured to produce a magnetic field proportional to a coil current signal supplied by the power stage. In addition, the gradient amplifier system includes a controller stage coupled to an input terminal of the power stage and configured to generate a pulse width modulated gate signal based on the coil current signal and a reference current signal, where the pulse width modulated gate signal is generated at a second switching frequency upon occurrence of a slew rate associated with the reference current signal is below a determined threshold rate and an amplitude level associated with the reference current signal is above a determined level. Further, the controller stage is configured to apply the generated pulse width modulated gate signal to the power stage for changing an operating frequency of each of the plurality of bridge amplifiers from the first switching frequency to the second switching frequency.

Gradient amplifier system

A heat sink with distributed jet cooling is provided. The heat sink includes a base for thermal connection to at least one heated object, an array of fins thermally coupled to the base, and at least one multi-orifice synthetic jet or multiple single orifice jets disposed on a side of the array of fins. A heat sink with distributed and integrated jet cooling is also provided and includes a base and an array of fins. Respective ones of at least a subset of the fins comprise a synthetic jet configured to eject an ambient fluid into an ambient environment of the fins and base. Another heat sink with distributed and integrated jet cooling is provided and includes a base, an array of fins and multiple synthetic jets coupled to respective ones of the fins. The synthetic jets are provided for at least a subset of the fins.

A switching inverter having two single-ended EFinverter sections coupled together with a shared ground and partially shared tunable resonant network that is coupled to at least one load, wherein each inverter section comprises a switching section, and wherein the shared tunable network section allows independent tuning of an impedance seen by the corresponding switching section thereby independently tuning even and odd harmonics of the switching frequency.
