A process of manufacturing a roll of plastic bags. The process includes forming a tubular blown film, and collapsing the tubular blown film so that the tubular blown film includes a first side, a second side, a first edge, and a second edge. Openings are cut in the collapsed tubular blown film, and sealing closure mechanisms are inserted through the openings into the collapsed tubular blown film. The sealing closure mechanisms are then fixed to the collapsed tubular blown film.

Plastic bags, rolls of plastic bags, and tubular blown film processes for making rolls of plastic bags. The rolls of plastic bags include a tubular blown film with a plurality of perforation lines along which plastic bags are separated from the roll. The perforation lines are formed so that portions of the lips of the plastic bags are offset from each other. The offset portions of the lips facilitate opening of the bags.

A method for producing synthetic magadiite, including the step of: heating a liquid aqueous colloidal silica suspension, the liquid aqueous colloidal silica suspension having a mole ratio of sodium hydroxide to silica and a mole ratio of water to silica effective to produce a synthetic magadiite wherein more than fifty percent by weight of the synthetic magadiite is platy synthetic magadiite. The synthetic platy magadiite can be converted to the acid form and: (a) heated to produce quartz-like plates; or Coalkylated to produce an organophilic material. In another aspect the instant invention is a method for the production of platy sodium octasilicate which includes the step of: heating a liquid aqueous colloidal silica dispersion containing silica, sodium oxide, and water, the mole ratio of the silica to the sodium oxide being in the range of from about 3.5 to about 10. In another aspect, the instant invention is a method for preparing a liquid aqueous colloidal silica dispersion, the dispersion having a mole ratio of silica to sodium oxide of from 3.5 to 10, which includes the step of: mixing a sufficient amount of liquid aqueous colloidal silica suspension with a liquid aqueous sodium silicate suspension to produce the liquid aqueous colloidal silica dispersion, the liquid aqueous colloidal silica suspension having a mole ratio of silica to sodium oxide of more than 20, the liquid aqueous sodium silicate suspension having a mole ratio of silica to sodium oxide of less than 3.5, the rate of mixing being effective to prevent the gelation or solidification of the liquid aqueous colloidal silica dispersion.

Synthetic platy magadiite and octasilicate

A method for producing synthetic magadiite, including the step of: heating a liquid aqueous colloidal silica suspension, the liquid aqueous colloidal silica suspension having a mole ratio of sodium hydroxide to silica and a mole ratio of water to silica effective to produce a synthetic magadiite wherein more than fifty percent by weight of the synthetic magadiite is platy synthetic magadiite. The present invention is a nanocomposite which is a dispersion of nanofiller particles derived from layered metal oxides or metal oxide salts. The nanocomposite is advantageously prepared by first swelling an untreated clay in water, then removing the water to form an organophilic clay that is dispersible in non-polar organic solvents. The organophilic clay can then be treated with an alkyl aluminoxane and subsequently a catalyst to form a complex that promotes olefin or styrenic polymerization and platelet dispersion. The nanocomposite can be prepared directly by in situ polymerization of the olefin or the styrene at the nanofiller particles without shear, without an ion exchange step, and without the need to incorporate polar substituents into the polyolefin or polystyrene.

A process of preparing a crystalline porous solid selected from silicas and metallosilicates, such as, aluminosilicate zeolites or clathrasils. The process involves preparing a reaction mixture containing ammonia; water in a controlled concentration; a (hydrocarbyl)ammonium polysilicate hydrate salt; a mineralizer, such as ammonium fluoride; optionally, a source of a metal oxide, such as aluminum nitride; and optionally, a source of a charge-balancing cation or a structure directing agent; and maintaining the mixture at a temperature and for a time so as to produce the crystalline porous solid. A novel silica which is isostructural with zeolite P1 is prepared. Also prepared are a novel silica which is isostructural with zeolite beta and a novel TMA sodalite having a silica/alumina molar ratio between 12 and about 20.

A novel microporous crystalline aluminosilicate designated DCM-2 is disclosed. The composition, as synthesized, contains lithium cations and is represented by the oxide composition: Li.sub.2 O.multidot.Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 .multidot.10SiO.sub.2. The lithium cations may be exchanged with hydrogen ions, and in the acid form the composition is useful as an adsorbent and as a catalyst for converting alkyl halides and alkanols to light hydrocarbons.
