A method to operate a multi-link wireless device. The method includes establishing at least a first multi-link device interface and a second multi-link device interface, exposing, via a virtual data port, the first multi-link device interface and the second multi-link device interface at a data processing layer of the wireless device, selecting one of the first multi-link device interface and the second multi-link device interface, as a selected multi-link device interface, based on performance information associated with a first radio and a second radio associated, respectively, with the first multi-link device interface and the second multi-link device interface, and wirelessly transmitting a packet from the wireless device by routing the packet through the selected multi-link device interface.

Multi-link operation for wireless local area network multi-link device

A method and apparatus are described for supporting a two-stage device-to-device (D2D) discovery using a D2D interworking function (IWF). A D2D IWF component may be configured to perform mapping between an application running on an application server and a third generation partnership project (3GPP) network, and provide a set of application programming interfaces (APIs) to allow discovery to be provided as a service to D2D applications. An application identifier may be mapped to a 3GPP identifier. Further, a method and apparatus are described for performing client-server discovery. A first wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may be configured for a listen-only operation, and a second WTRU may be configured to transmit beacons. The first and second WTRUs may perform a radio access network (RAN) discovery procedure at an access stratum (AS) layer. A method and apparatus for performing charging for D2D service using a D2D IWF are also described.

Method and apparatus for supporting proximity discovery procedures

Enhanced network level information for power control is described. The enhanced network level information enables network connected electronic devices to enter and exit standby modes based on system level information. The network level information also enables the use of a respective network connected device in a seamless manner from the perspective of the user, while decreasing the amount of energy consumed by the device when not in active operation. In some examples, a Network Monitoring Application (NMA) classifies electronic devices into power control categories, monitors a physical environment associated with the plurality of connected electronic devices, and provides a power control signal to the various electronic devices upon detection of a change in the physical environment.

Network connected device energy conservation

A method for transmitting a broadcasting message by an access network intended for a group of terminals. The terminals are configured to recurrently and asynchronously transmit polling messages intended for the access network. An instant for transmitting the broadcasting message is determined on the basis of information relating to the recurrence of the polling messages transmitted by the terminals of the group. Before transmitting the broadcasting message and for each polling message received from a terminal of the group, a response message including one or more parameters relating to the transmission of the broadcasting message is transmitted. The response message needs to be received by the terminal during a listening window with a predetermined duration following the transmission of the polling message. The broadcasting message is transmitted over the broadcasting channel at the determined transmission instant.

Planning an instant for transmitting a message over a broadcasting channel

A method for transmitting a message via an access network to a group of terminals is provided. The access network transmits the message to the group of terminals over a broadcast channel. The access network receives a request for retransmission of the message transmitted from a terminal that has not correctly received the message. The access network evaluates a predetermined broadcast retransmission criterion and retransmits the message over a point-to-point link or over a broadcast channel according to the predetermined broadcast retransmission criterion.

A wireless communication system includes an infrastructure device for transmitting and receiving communications to and from a plurality of wireless user terminals. Each wireless user terminal includes a receiver and a controller configured to receive a plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals on at least one downlink carrier frequency. Each of the plurality of OFDM signals includes assignment information. The receiver is configured to receive a plurality of downlink signals each responsive to a respective OFDM signal of the plurality of OFDM signals such that each downlink signal is received on a downlink carrier frequency and using a downlink spatial pattern. Further, the controller is configured to dynamically change the downlink carrier frequency of the receiver for receiving the plurality of downlink signals based on the plurality of OFDM signals, wherein the plurality of downlink signals have different spatial patterns.

Method for performing wireless switching

A method and apparatus are provided to enable or aid network-controlled selection of an IP address (and anchor) to be used by a WTRU on an application/service basis. In one example, a method is provided for a WTRU to establish a link with a gateway, transmit a query related to a selected application via the gateway, receive an advertisement for an internet protocol (IP) address, and use the IP address to communicate via the gateway with respect to the selected application. It may be assumed that there are more than one possible IP address/anchor available for the WTRU to use, as it might be the case in a mobility environment, in which an operator can provide addresses with different mobility capabilities.

A method for use in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising: selecting a privacy profile, wherein the privacy profile includes privacy and security settings for each layer of a protocol stack of the WTRU, wherein the privacy and security settings include at least one of using anonymous dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) signaling parameters, the anonymous DHCP signaling parameters include a hostname, using a random medium access control (MAC) address, or using a random Internet protocol (IP) address; and instructing each layer of the protocol stack of the WTRU with the privacy and security settings based on the selected privacy profile.

A method and apparatus are described for supporting advanced distributed and dynamic mobility management (DMM) features with multiple flows anchored at different gateways. A software defined networking (SDN) controller may support the attachment of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to a network. The SDN controller may receive initial attachment signaling from a point of attachment (PoA) indicating that the WTRU initially attached to the network. The anchor node may be a distributed gateway (D-GW). The SDN controller may select an anchor node to serve the WTRU Internet protocol (IP) flow traffic. Initial attachment signaling, intra-anchor node handover, inter-anchor node handover, new anchor node allocation and inter-domain mobility across virtualized operators are also described.

Software defined networking distributed and dynamic mobility management

A method for multi-band operation by a first transmit/receive unit (TRU) is disclosed. The method may comprise monitoring a plurality of frequency bands including a first band and a second band. A first beacon may be received on the first band and a determination may be made, based on the received first beacon, of a first beacon period start time. The first beacon period start time may correspond to beacons transmitted by the second TRU. A second beacon period start time may be determined, based on the received first beacon, wherein the second beacon period start time corresponds to a beacon for transmission by the first TRU. A beacon signal may be transmitted in a second band, by the first TRU, wherein the beacon signal is timing aligned with beacon signals of the second TRU. The first band and the second band may be adjacent radio bands.

For example, the multicast traffic may be obtained via a local subscription, via a visited domain of a mobile node for example, or a remote subscription, via a home domain of a mobile node for example, A network entity, such as a Mobile Access Gateway (MAG) and/or a local multicast router for example, may be used to manage the routing of the multicast traffic to the mobile node. The network entity may manage the multicast traffic using one or more multicast policies that may indicate how to route the multicast traffic to a mobile node.
