Embodiments of the disclosure provide systems and methods for a multi-protocol LPWAN gateway. In the first mode, a transceiver of the gateway device can communicate with wireless devices in a first LPWAN protocol and, in the second mode, the wireless transceiver can communicate with the one or more wireless devices in a second LPWAN protocol. The second LPWAN protocol can be different from the first LPWAN protocol. In response to selecting the first mode, the gateway device can cause the wireless transceiver to conduct communications with the wireless devices using the first LPWAN protocol. In response to selecting the second mode, the gateway device can cause the wireless transceiver to conduct communications with the wireless devices using the second LPWAN protocol.

In particular, a device is provided that includes an array of sensors and communications modules configured to detect tracking information, including environmental conditions and physical events, and report the tracking information along with a geographical location of the device to a control server across a wireless network. Upon receiving the tracking information, the control server interprets the information and generates tracking reports for the device configured to be displayed to a graphical user interface of a third-party communication device.

Low power wide area network (LPWAN) region awareness method and system

Executing a FOTA (firmware over the air) method in a LoRa network having low throughput and low power. the transceivers used in the end nodes and in the LoRa gateway are capable of selecting a certain frequency channel and deactivating the LoRa mode. If the spread-spectrum LoRa mode is deactivated, both transceivers at the end node and the gateway function instead using a basic FSK (frequency-shift keying) modulation scheme. This modulation scheme is capable of providing a higher data rate at the expense of reducing the 'path balance,' which indicates how much attenuation the transmitted signal may sustain while still being able to be decoded at the receiver. When using the FSK modulation scheme at a high data rate, a FOTA method may be easily carried out, since the end node must have its receiver activated only for a short time.
