A pedal-actuated braking pressure generator for a brake system with anti-lock control comprising a vacuum-operated servo unit (1), which serves both for boosting the braking force and for generating an auxiliary energy opposed to the pedal force. The system further comprises a master brake cylinder (2) and a piston arrangement (3) connected upstream of the servo unit (1). The piston arrangement comprises a pedal-side piston (15), a reversing valve (18), a pressure transmission chamber (17) and a push-rod piston (19). By a multi-directional valve (5) it is possible to arrest the pedal-side piston (15) during anti-lock control. By means of the reversing valve (18), a pressure medium path is established from the pressure transmission chamber (17) to the pressure compensation reservoir (6), thereby the push-rod piston (19) is relieved in the direction of release of the brake.

A brake pressure generator for brake systems exhibiting an anti-locking control comprises a vacuum brake force booster (1), and a master brake cylinder (2) coupled upstream thereto, a vacuum counter-force generator (6 or 6') and a hydraulic force converter (27). The pressure and the pressure difference, respectively, in chambers (15 or 15'; 16 or 16') of the counter-force generator (6 or 6') are controlled with the aid of electrically reswitchable multi-way valves (17 to 17') in communication with the atmosphere (Atm) and the vacuum (Vac) source.

Brake pressure generator for a brake system exhibiting an anti-locking

A resettable booster is disclosed including a booster chamber in communication with a resetting chamber through a closable connection. For pressure relief of the master brake cylinder, valves are switched so that the booster piston is pressure-balanced and the master brake cylinder force shifts the booster piston back into the brake release position. The pressure fluid is supplied from the booster chamber into the resetting chamber. Advantageously, the volume intake of the booster is small, hence allowing the use of an extremely simple pressure source construction. The pressure source is a cylinder with an accumulator chamber that is confined by a piston, wherein the piston is moved by the difference in pressure between the atmosphere and the vacuum in the intake side internal-combustion engine of the vehicle.

Hydraulic booster

A hydraulic brake system with slip control wherein at least one wheel brake (11) of an automotive vehicle is connected to a master cylinder (1). A normally opened inlet valve (8) which is adapted to be switched into a closed position is inserted in the connection between the master cylinder (1) and the wheel brake (11). The supply reservoir (6) of the master cylinder (1) contains an opening (13) which can be tightly closed by a filling device. To speed up the filling procedure of like brake systems, an additional connection is established between the supply reservoir (6) and the wheel brake (11) which is controllable by a valve (15). A like arrangement accelerates the venting and filling procedure, since the inlet valve (8) and its throttling action are by-passed.

Hydraulic brake system

A hydraulic motor vehicle brake system with a master cylinder (61) and a hydraulic power booster (24) connected upstream of the master cylinder (61), in which a pressure medium pump (1) which may be driven by an electric motor is used for providing an auxiliary hydraulic energy. The drive of the pressure medium pump (1) may be switched on by a pressure accumulator (26) which in the unbraked operation of the automotive vehicle is permanently kept on a pressure level sufficient for an initial actuation of the brake. The pressure accumulator (26) is charged by means of a pressure control valve (7) in which a valve passage (15, 17) is operable by a hydraulic pressure in the booster chamber (23) of the power booster (24) such as to ensure that upon pressurization of the booster chamber (23) a connection will be locked between the pressure accumulator (26) and the power booster (24). The power booster (24) has a pedal-operable throttle valve, with the throttle valve being a double seat valve which in the brake's release position will lock a connection from the pump (1) to the booster chamber (23).

An automotive vehicle braking device comprises a hydraulic master cylinder (11) having at least one piston (21) for pressurization of the wheel cylinders connected thereto with hydraulic pressure and also having a vacuum brake force booster (12) inserted between the brake pedal (52) and the piston (21). The master cylinder (11) is integrated in the construction of the vacuum brake force booster (12).

Automotive vehicle braking device

The hydraulic brake system having at least one wheel brake is adapted to be pressurized by a master brake cylinder actuated by a hydraulic power booster. An auxiliary pressure is adjustable in a pressure chamber of the hydraulic power booster by means of a brake valve. Interposed between an auxiliary pressure source and the brake valve is a pressure-reducing valve that is controllable by the auxiliary pressure and contains a valve controlling a passageway, the valve being acted upon by the auxiliary pressure to open the passageway. To simplify the construction of the pressure-reducing valve, the closure member of the valve is exposed to the reduced pressure in the pressure-reducing valve such that a force related to the valve seat surface will be exerted on the closure member in the closing direction of the passageway of the pressure-reducing valve.

The hydraulic brake system with slip control comprises two master cylinder pistons for the operation of the vehicular brakes and in which hydraulic medium tapped from the wheel brake during slip control is returned to the wheel brakes from an auxiliary pressure source via a master cylinder piston gasket acting as check valves. The operating stroke of the master cylinder pistons is limitable by suitable pressurization of a positioning piston. An open connection between the working chambers of the master cylinder and a reservoir is provided, in the brake-released position, solely via the control valve so as to enable the brake circuits connected with the master cylinder to be pressurized right from the beginning of the braking action.

Hydraulic brake system with slip control

A slip-controlled hydraulic brake system which comprises a master cylinder and an auxiliary-pressure supply system is equipped with a travel-responsive switch actuatable by a piston of the master cylinder. An auxiliary-pressure supply system is used for the purpose of pressure delivery during the stop control phase and to safeguard a reserve volume or reserve stroke in the pressure chambers of the master cylinder. To this end, the auxiliary-pressure supply system will be activated and, if need be, check valves will be changed over on attainment of a limit value by virtue of the travel-responsive switch.

Slip-controlled hydraulic brake system

A brake system comprising a hydraulic braking pressure generator (1) to which are connected the brake wheels (6-9); an auxiliary pressure supply system including a hydraulic pump (10) and an auxiliary pressure control valve (12) causing an auxiliary-pressure proportional to the pedal force (F). Pressure-controlled multidirectional valves (27,28) are provided establishing a connection between either the braking pressure generator or the auxiliary pressure supply system and the wheel brakes (6-9). The pressure-controlled multidirectional valves (27,28) are structurally combined with a switching mechanism (41,42) to signal the operating condition of the brake system, in particular, a pressure breakdown or defective conditions of the valves. A connection is established, via one of the pressure-controlled multidirectional valves (27), between the pedal travel simulator and the braking pressure generator (1). The brake system can be applied to a slip-controlled system.

Brake system for motor vehicles

A braking pressure generator consists of a hydraulic brake booster (2) actuatable by a brake pedal (16) and of a master brake cylinder (1) whose master cylinder piston (19) is actuatable by a booster piston (14) pressurizable with an auxiliary hydraulic pressure. The booster piston (14) is guided sealedly and axially displaceably in the bore of an annular secondary cylinder piston (41) which, with a front face (52), confines the booster chamber (13) and which, with its stepped surface area (51), confines a secondary cylinder chamber (44) communicating with a pressure chamber (22) of the master brake cylinder (1) via a pressure line (46). In the brake actuating direction, the secondary cylinder piston (41) is supported at a stop ring (48) of a connecting rod (20) between the booster piston (14) and the master cylinder piston (19). In case of an auxilary-pressure-assisted brake application the secondary cylinder piston (41) supplies pressure medium into the pressure chamber (22), thus a smaller actuating travel resulting at the brake pedal (16). If the auxiliary pressure is lacking upon a brake application, the secondary cylinder piston (41) will remain in its rest position and a sufficient braking action will be achievable by means of the master cylinder piston (19) smaller surface actuated alone.

Braking pressure generator for an automotive vehicle's hydraulic brake

A hydraulic power booster, in particular for the actuation of a master cylinder in a brake system of an automotive vehicle is disclosed including a pressure fluid source, a valve assembly by means of which the pressure fluid is adapted to be introduced into a booster chamber in dependence upon an actuating force. An axially slidable stepped booster piston confines the booster chamber and is provided with two piston parts of different diameters which are movable axially relative to one another by a predetermined amount. To enable instantaneous pressure build-up in the working chambers of the master cylinder upon commencement of braking, an intermediate piston part is coupled to the primary piston of the master cylinder and is caused to move ahead of the actual booster piston part. Movement of the auxiliary piston part is achieved by passing the pressure fluid from the booster chamber through a channel in the booster piston part to an intermediate chamber wherein the fluid acts on the effective area of the auxiliary piston part. Discharge of the fluid through the channel is damped by a throttle and a nose portion of the auxiliary piston is slidably received in a blind bore in the booster piston providing damped auxiliary piston movement.

Hydraulic power booster

A vehicular hydraulic brake system with anti-locking, wherein there is provided a master cylinder (27) with a power booster (9) connected upstream thereof for the purpose of supplying the brake-actuating members (32, 33, 36 37) with pressure. Valves (34, 35, 38, 39) are provided for the pressure control of the brake-actuating members (32, 33, 36, 37) and wherein a pressure piston (23) of the hydraulic power booster (9) can be acted upon by the pressure of an auxiliary pressure source (1) in the brake's release direction. To structurally simplify the brake system, the present invention provides that a housing chamber (24) which can be acted upon by the pressure of an unpressurized supply reservoir (5) or of the auxiliary pressure source (1), alternatively, is confined by an end face of the pressure piston (23) remote from the pedal.

Vehicular hydraulic brake system with anti-locking

An auxiliary-energy-supplied brake slip control system of a vehicular hydraulic brake system with a brake-pedal-operable master cylinder arrangement (12) and with auxiliary energy supply into the working chamber (16) of the master cylinder. The master cylinder piston (23) portion facing the working chamber (16) is enclosed by a sleeve (58) which is longitudinally displaceable with respect to the master cylinder piston (23) and the master cylinder bore (63). The master cylinder piston (23) having radially extending projections or a collar (66) which, in the brake release phase, rests at the working-chamber-side front face of the sleeve (58) and moves the same back into its initial position. The booster-side front face of the sleeve (58) confines an annular space or a chamber (69) provided in the master cylinder housing and communicates with the booster chamber (21) by way of a pressure line (64). Thus in case of a defective hydraulic brake booster (11) the sleeve (58) remains in its initial position and only the cross-sectional surface of the master cylinder piston (23) being effective, which provides abrupt change in ratio.

Auxiliary-energy-supplied brake slip control system of a vehicular

A combination traction slip- and brake slip-controlled brake system comprises a brake pressure generator (1) with an auxiliary energy supply system (2) and a pressure compensating reservoir (3) and electromagnetically actuatable valves (4-11) in the pressure fluid supply conduit to the wheel brakes (34-37) and in the return conduit (28, 28', 28') to the pressure compensating reservoir (3). In addition, a valve arrangement (13, 29, 30, 31) is provided and through which pressure from the auxiliary energy supply system (2) can be introduced the pressure fluid return conduit (28, 28', 28') and by way of outlet valves (8, 9) into the wheel brakes (34-37) of the driven vehicle wheels, with the purpose of controlling the traction slip.
