An electronic actuator for an elevator safety brake system, the actuator having: an electromagnet assembly; and a first magnet assembly configured for being retracted from engagement with a rail depending on an energized state of the electromagnet assembly, the first magnet assembly including: blocks spaced apart from each other, respectively defining block bodies, and elongated block legs respectively extending aft from the block bodies; and a first magnet is disposed between the block bodies; wherein the electromagnet assembly includes: a core that defines: a core body extending between core ends that are spaced apart from each other; and core stub legs respectively extending forward from the core ends that are positioned adjacent to the elongated block legs when the first magnet assembly is retracted; and a coil winding wound about bobbins that are placed over the core body, the elongated block legs are longer than the core stub legs.

Electronic actuation module for elevator safety brake system

An electronic safety actuator assembly for an elevator system includes a safety case vertically moveable relative to an elevator car. Also included is a safety brake disposed within the safety case. Further included is an electromagnet operatively coupleable to the elevator car. Yet further included is a link member operatively coupleable to the elevator car and to the safety brake. Also included is a magnet disposed between the electromagnet and the safety case, the magnet vertically moveable relative to the elevator car, the electromagnet switchable between an energized condition and an un-energized condition, one of the energized condition and the un-energized condition magnetically attracting the magnet to the electromagnet, the other of the energized condition and the un-energized condition magnetically repulsing the magnet away from the electromagnet, repulsion of the magnet moving the safety brake from a non-braking position to a braking position.

Electronic safety actuator assembly for elevator system

A method for monitoring brake torque of an elevator having a motor is provided. The method may engage an elevator brake for a predefined duration, determine a displacement of an output shaft of the motor during the predefined duration, and generate an alert if the displacement exceeds a predefined threshold.

Brake torque monitoring and health assessment

An example elevator brake includes a first braking member that is biased by a first spring member into engagement with a braking surface. The first braking member includes a first armature arranged to be actuated by an electromagnetic actuator to disengage the first braking member from the braking surface against the biasing force of the first spring member. A second braking member is biased by a second spring member into engagement with a braking surface. The second braking member includes a second armature arranged to be actuated by an electromagnetic actuator to disengage the second braking member against the biasing force of the second spring member. A first electromagnetic actuator actuates the first armature and a second electromagnetic actuator actuates the second armature.
