Disclosed herein is an MEMS variable capacitor and its driving method, the MEMS variable capacitor including, a first electrode, a second electrode floating over the first electrode upper part, a fixed electrode separated at the second electrode side surface, and a drifting electrode placed between the second electrode and the fixed electrode, connected to the second electrode, and physically contacting the fixed electrode by a voltage applied to the fixed electrode.

An impedance matching system is provided. The impedance matching system includes an impedance matching apparatus and an impedance analysis apparatus. The impedance matching apparatus varies a capacitance value of a capacitor according to an applied voltage value, and matches an impedance according to the varied capacitance value. The impedance analysis apparatus supplies a voltage for varying the capacitance value to an impedance matching circuit, and determines an impedance value, changed according to the voltage value, to analyze characteristic of a capacitor included in the impedance matching apparatus.

Impedance matching system and operating method thereof

An apparatus and method for matching impedance of an antenna by using Standing Wave Ratio (SWR) information is provided. While the impedance of the impedance matching unit is controlled, a region of a Smith chart in which initial total impedance of the impedance matching unit and the antenna is located by using an SWR calculated by an SWR operation unit, and the impedance of the impedance matching unit is controlled according to the determined region, thus correctly matching the impedance of the antenna.

An impedance matching apparatus is provided. The impedance matching apparatus includes a signal separation unit, an impedance detection unit, and an impedance matching unit. The signal separation unit separates a transmission and reception signal, and selectively passes a desired frequency corresponding to the transmission and reception signal. The impedance detection unit includes a plurality of impedances, and detects first and second electric potentials between the impedances. The impedance matching unit compares the first and second electric potentials detected by the impedance detection unit, and changes a matching factor for one of the impedances included in the impedance detection unit to match the impedances according to the compared result.

An impedance matching apparatus is provided. The impedance matching apparatus includes a signal separation unit, an impedance detection unit, and an impedance matching unit. The signal separation unit separates a transmission and reception signal, and selectively passes a desired frequency corresponding to the transmission and reception signal. The impedance detection unit receives a signal outputted from the signal separation unit to detect first and second electric potentials between a plurality of impedances. The impedance matching unit compares the first and second electric potentials detected by the impedance detection unit to match the impedances.

The impedance matching apparatus includes an impedance matching part connected to an antenna to transmit/receive a radio wave and including at least one variable capacitor, a detector to detect transmit power and reflected power reflected by the antenna, and a controller to set a first searching region within a whole variation range of the variable capacitor, to detect an optimal impedance matching point within the first searching region by using at least one of the transmit power and the reflected power, and to set a next searching region about the optimal impedance matching point to search for a final impedance matching point within the whole variation range of the variable capacitor.

Disclosed are an impedance matching method, an impedance matching apparatus for the same, and a record medium. The impedance matching apparatus includes a storage part to store information about an impedance matching point according a state of an obstacle, an impedance matching part connected to an antenna and including at least one variable element, a detector to detect transmit power and reflected power reflected by the antenna, and a controller to search for an impedance matching point within a variation range of the variable element by using at least one of the transmit power and the reflected power, and to detect a state of a surrounding obstacle by comparing information about the searched impedance matching point with the stored information about the impedance matching point.

Disclosed herein is a variable capacitor and its driving method, the variable capacitor including, a movable first electrode; and a second electrode formed with an insulating film, fixed in place, and its insulating film contacting the first electrode that is moved.
