A method and apparatus for determining a location of a User Equipment (UE) in a communication system. A Base Station (BS) connected to a plurality of antennas by cable receives from each of the antennas reception signal information related to an uplink signal transmitted from the UE, identifies an antenna having a partial service area in which the UE is located, using the reception signal information, and determines the partial service area of the identified antenna to be the location of the UE.

Method and apparatus for determining location of user equipment in a communication system

A method and an apparatus ensure efficient handover in a wireless communication system even when a User Equipment (UE) moves at a high speed. A serving eNB receives interference power information of an uplink (UL) signal and interference increase/decrease information of the UL signal from at least one adjacent eNB. an adjacent eNB, for which the received interference power information indicates that interference power of the UL signal is equal to or greater than a threshold value, is selected as a target eNB for a User Equipment (UE) among the at least one adjacent eNB. Whether handover of the UE is delayed is determined based on the interference increase/decrease information received from the target eNB. And if the handover of the UE is delayed, a handover parameter is transmitted to the UE to perform handover to the target eNB.

Method and apparatus for handover in wireless communication system

A Base Station (BS) includes an apparatus and method for transmitting cell information. The BS is in the a communication system of a small cell size in a wireless communication environment in which a communication system of a large cell size and the communication system of the small cell size are hierarchically constructed in the same area. The method includes confirming reference signal transmission information for transmitting a reference signal including its own cell information, if a reference signal transmission interval arrives according to the reference signal transmission information, transmitting the reference signal through an operation frequency of a macro BS of the large cell size including the BS itself, and, if it is not the reference signal transmission interval, providing service through its own operation frequency or operating in a power saving mode.

An apparatus and method for detecting signals based on a Lattice Reduction (LR) algorithm in a Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) wireless communication system are provided. The apparatus includes a plurality of operators for determining soft-decision values for respective streams by performing a soft modulo operation on respective symbol values included in a Receive (Rx) signal block multiplied by a lattice transformation matrix T, a plurality of inner decoders for determining Log Likelihood Ratio (LLR) values of codewords according to coding schemes for the respective streams by decoding the soft-decision values for the respective streams according to identical decoding scheme, a passer for restoring the LLR values representing the codewords generated in a transmitting end using the LLR values, and a plurality of outer decoders for determining LLR values of Transmit (Tx) bitstreams for the respective streams by decoding the LLR values representing the codewords generated in the transmitting end for the respective streams according to decoding schemes for the respective streams.

Apparatus and method for detecting signal based on lattice reduction to support different coding scheme for each stream in multiple input multiple output wireless communication system

An apparatus and method determines neighbor Base Station (BS) information in a wireless communication system where a macro cell and a Femto cell coexist. The method includes, when a preamble scanning duration arrives, acquiring preamble information on at least one neighbor BS through preamble scanning. It is determined whether to scan a header for at least one neighbor BS among neighbor BSs for which the preamble information are acquired, in consideration of at least one of the acquisition or non-acquisition of new preamble information through the preamble scanning and a variation of an environment of a preamble acquired through the preamble scanning. And, in case that it is determined to scan the header, a header for a corresponding neighbor BS is scanned and header information of the neighbor BS is acquired.

Apparatus and method for determining neighbor BS information in a wireless communication system

An operation method of the femto BS includes configuring a subframe set including at least two types of subframes among subframes having predefined different structures, and, if a duration of a subframe carrying the subframe set arrives, transmitting one of the subframes included in the subframe set according to predefined order. Apparatus and method for transmitting system information block in a broadband wireless communication system

Provided are an apparatus and a method for providing a relay service in a wireless communication system. The apparatus includes a modulator, an encoder, and a transmission unit. The modulator modulates a transmission signal according to a modulation degree. The encoder encodes a modulation symbol provided from the modulator using a convolution code of a ring domain. The transmission unit transmits the signal provided from the encoder to a relay station. The relay station detects a signal where signals received from different transmission ends are added in a real domain, and relays the detected signal, thereby providing a relay service without an additional time resource.
