An electrocoating composition is provided herein. The electrocoating composition includes an aqueous carrier. The electrocoating composition further includes a film forming binder. The film forming binder includes an epoxy-amine adduct and a blocked polyisocyanate crosslinking agent. The electrocoating composition further includes an anti-crater agent selected from the group of a polyester resin dispersion, a polyacrylate resin dispersion, and a combination thereof. The electrocoating composition further includes a supplemental anti-crater agent including a polyether modified polysiloxane.

The invention relates to a process for preparing a cross-linkable aqueous copolymer dispersion, wherein the process includes (1) polymerizing 5 to 64% by weight of a reaction product of at least one fatty acid having at least one ethylenic double bond and one hydroxyl group in the molecule with a polyalcohol having a hydroxyl functionality of 2 to 8, preferably the triglyceride of ricinoleic acid with 36 to 95% by weight of additional unsaturated monomers, wherein additional unsaturated monomer are polymerized in presence of at least 20% by weight of the total amount of the reaction product as polymerization medium. Aqueous pigment dispersions

The present invention is directed to a process of applying a solvent-based coating composition on a substrate to produce a multi-layer coating thereon. The binder component of the composition includes at least one hydroxy-functional polyether obtained from at least one polyol having at least three hydroxyl groups and at least one monoglycidyl ester of a branched monocarboxylic acid. The crosslinking component of the composition includes at least one cross-linking agent that is capable of entering into a cross-linking reaction with the hydroxyl groups of- the hydroxy-functional polyether. The process further includes curing the multi-layer coating. The process is well suited for producing clear coats and pigmented topcoats in automotive refinishing.

Method of applying high solids coating composition to multilayer coating

The present invention is directed to a coating composition that when applied over untreated thermoplastic and thermosetting resinous substrates, produces an adherent coating thereon. The composition includes a crosslinkable component and a crosslinking component. The crosslinkable component includes a polymeric mix containing at least one crosslinkable copolymer polymerized from a monomer mixture comprising one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers having on average 1 to 10, preferably 1 to 4 and more preferably 1 to 2 hydroxyl groups and a saturated hydrocarbon polymer. The crosslinkable component includes one or more cycloaliphatic polyisocyanate of the formula:R&#x2014;(R&#x2014;NCO) wherein Ris a substituted or unsubstituted cycloaliphatic group, Ris independently selected from a direct bond, a straight aliphatic group or branched aliphatic group, and wherein n ranges from 2 to 10. The coating composition is well suited to produce adherent coatings on olefinic substrates such as those used in automotive and general commercial application without any pretreatment of the resinous substrates.

The present invention is directed to a method of producing an adherent coating over untreated thermoplastic and thermosetting resinous substrates from a coating composition that includes a crosslinkable component and a crosslinking component that are mixed prior to application and applied over the substrate.
