An analog amplitude pre-distortion circuit includes a Radio Frequency, RF, input for receiving an RF signal. The circuit also includes an amplifier stage comprising an amplifier stage input for receiving the RF signal from the RF input, where the amplifier stage is operable to amplify the RF signal to produce an amplified RF signal. The circuit further includes a bias circuit. The bias circuit includes a detector stage for detecting an amplitude of the RF signal, and for producing a correction signal based on the amplitude of the RF signal. The bias circuit also includes a bias application stage coupled to the amplifier stage input.

Analog amplitude pre-distortion circuit and method

A metal oxide semiconductor, MOS, device () is described that includes a gate terminal, at least one source terminal and at least one drain terminal, wherein at least one source terminal and at least one drain terminal are formed of metal and are connected to a number of respective contact vias. A plurality of local interconnect layers, LIL, () are connected respectively to the least one source terminal and at least one drain terminal through the number of respective contact vias, wherein the at least one source terminal and the at least one drain terminal respectively connected to the plurality of LIL () are configured such that: the at least one source terminal and the at least one drain terminal do not overlap in a first direction () and a second direction () that is orthogonal to the first direction (); and the at least one source terminal and the at least one drain terminal do not overlap or only a proportion of the at least one source terminal and the at least one drain terminal overlap in a third direction (), where the third direction () is orthogonal to both the first direction () and the second direction ().

Metal oxide semiconductor device

An antenna switch circuit and an antenna circuit switching method. The circuit includes an antenna port, a termination port (e.g., for disposal of power reflected back from an antenna and received through the antenna port in a transmit mode), and a receive port (e.g., for receiving a signal from the antenna port via the antenna switch circuit in a receive mode). The circuit also includes a first switch coupled between the antenna port and the termination port. The circuit further includes a resonant inductance coupled between the receive port and the node located between the antenna port and the first switch. The circuit also includes a second switch coupled between a reference potential and a node located between the resonant inductance and the receive port.

Antenna switch circuit and method

A radio frequency, RF, switch circuit () includes at least one first PiN diode device () configured to sink or source a first alternating current; and an impedance inversion circuit (), connected to the at least one first PiN diode device and arranged to provide a transformed impedance between a first side of the impedance inversion circuit and a second side of the impedance inversion circuit. The RF switch further includes a second diode-based device () configured to source or sink a second alternating current; and a bias circuit () connected to at least one of the at least one first PiN diode device and the second diode-based device, wherein the at least one first PiN diode device cooperates with the second diode-based device as a push-pull current circuit.

Radio frequency switch circuit, communication unit and method therefor

An RF power amplifier is described including a first amplifier and a second amplifier arranged in parallel between an RF power amplifier input and an RF power amplifier output. A phase adjuster adjusts the phase of a signal on at least one of the first amplifier signal path and the second amplifier signal path. A first impedance inverter has a first impedance inverter input coupled to an output of the second amplifier and a first impedance inverter output coupled to the RF power amplifier output. The RF power amplifier is configured to enable at least one of the first amplifier and the second amplifier dependent on an operation mode and the first impedance inverter is configured to modulate the load impedance of the second amplifier in response to the operation mode changing.

Radio-frequency amplifier

A power amplifier. The power amplifier includes a plurality of parallel coupled transistors. Each transistor has a control terminal coupled to receive a signal to be amplified and an output terminal coupled to a node. The power amplifier also includes a matching network having an input coupled to the node and an output coupleable to a load. The power amplifier further includes a first circuit branch forming a choke and harmonic trap of the power amplifier. The first circuit branch includes a first inductance, a second inductance and a first capacitor. The first inductance has a first terminal coupled to the node and a second terminal coupled to a first terminal of the second inductance. A second terminal of the second inductance is coupled to AC ground. The first capacitor is coupled in parallel with the second inductance.

Power amplifier

A biased-transistor-module comprising: a module-input-terminal; a module-output-terminal; a reference-terminal; a module-supply-terminal configured to receive a supply voltage; a module-reference-voltage-terminal configured to receive a module reference voltage; a main-transistor having a main-control-terminal, a main-first-conduction-channel-terminal and a main-second-conduction-channel-terminal, wherein the main-first-conduction-channel-terminal is connected to the module-output-terminal, and the main-second-conduction-channel-terminal is connected to the reference-terminal, and the main-control-terminal is connected to an input-signal-node, wherein the input-signal-node is connected to the module-input-terminal; and a bias-circuit. The bias-circuit comprises: a first-bias-transistor; a first-bias-resistor; a second-bias-transistor; and a second-bias-resistor.

Biased transistor module

A Doherty amplifier comprising: a main-power-amplifier having a main-amp-output-terminal; a peaking-power-amplifier having a peaking-amp-output-terminal; a combining node; a main-output-impedance-inverter connected between the main-amp-output-terminal and the combining node; and a transformer connected between the peaking-amp-output-terminal and the combining node.

Doherty amplifiers

A Doherty amplifier circuit comprising: a splitter having: a splitter-input-terminal for receiving an input signal; a main-splitter-output-terminal; and a peaking-splitter-output-terminal; a main-power-amplifier having a main-power-input-terminal and a main-power-output-terminal, wherein; the main-power-input-terminal is connected to the main-splitter-output-terminal; and the main-power-output-terminal is configured to provide a main-power-amplifier-output-signal; a peaking-power-amplifier having a peaking-power-input-terminal and a peaking-power-output-terminal, wherein: the peaking-power-input-terminal is connected to the peaking-splitter-output-terminal; and the peaking-power-output-terminal is configured to provide a peaking-power-amplifier-output-signal. The splitter, the main-power-amplifier and the peaking-power-amplifier are provided by means of an integrated circuit.

Doherty amplifier circuits

A frequency hopping receiver circuit has a frequency converter () and a hopping control circuit () coupled to the frequency converter (), and configured to control frequency hopping of the received frequency, by controlling changes in frequency shift applied by the frequency converter (). The frequency change is applied in combination with a temporary reduction in conversion gain of the frequency converter () during the change in frequency shift. The frequency converter may contain a mixer (), a local oscillator circuit () and a controllable amplifier () coupled between the input of the frequency converter () and the mixer () or between the mixer () and the output of the frequency converter (), or between the local oscillator circuit () and the local oscillator input of the mixer (). In this case the hopping control circuit () has outputs coupled to a gain control input of the controllable amplifier () and a frequency control input of the local oscillator circuit (), to control the reduction in conversion gain and the change in frequency shift respectively.

Frequency hopping receiver circuit

Data is received with a transceiver circuit with a receiver branch () that comprises a notch filter () and a digital Fourier transformer (). Furthermore the transceiver circuit has a transmitter branch () comprising an inverse digital Fourier transformer (). Prior to reception the transceiver circuit is switched to a calibration mode, wherein an output of the transmitter branch () is coupled to an input of the notch filter (). The inverse digital Fourier transformer () of the transmitter is used to compute an inverse transform of a spectrum with a frequency component at a selected position. A signal derived from the inverse transform is applied to an input of the notch filter () in the calibration mode. The digital Fourier transformer () is used to Fourier transform an output signal of the notch filter (). A control setting of the notch filter to suppress the frequency component from an output of the digital Fourier transformer () is determined. A parameter derived from said control setting is stored in a memory (). After the transceiver circuit is switched to a reception mode, a received interfering signal and an interference frequency of the received interfering signal are detected. The stored parameter to translate the detected interference frequency into a control setting of the notch filter ().

Wide band transceiver and data receiving method using a tunable notch filter and pre-estimated optimal notch filter parameters

A digital phase locked loop () configured to receive a reference clock signal () and a channel control word (), and to generate an output clock signal (). The digital phase locked loop comprising an adjustable delay component () configured to: receive the reference clock signal (), apply a time delay to the reference clock signal () in accordance with a time delay control signal (); and provide a delayed reference clock signal (). The digital phase locked loop further comprising a timing component () configured to process the delayed reference clock signal () and the output clock signal (), and generate a first control signal () representative of the phase of the output clock signal (); a reference accumulator () configured to receive the channel command word () and generate: a second control signal () representative of the phase of an intended output clock signal; and the time delay control signal () such that the delayed reference clock signal () is delayed by a period of time representative of a first portion of the phase of the intended output clock signal. The digital phase locked loop also comprising a controller () configured to process the first and second control signals (), and generate a DCO control signal () for setting the frequency of a digitally controlled oscillator () in accordance with the first and second control signals (); and a digitally controlled oscillator () configured to generate the output clock signal () in accordance with the DCO control signal ().

Digital phase locked loop

An oscillation signal with a selectable frequency is generated with a phase locked loop (). The oscillator () of the loop receives a feedback signal, to which an offset is added in order to reduce transient effects when a frequency modification is made. A first and second offset control value are used to control the offset successively. The first offset control value is controlled by a combination of the frequency settings before and after the modification. The second offset control value is controlled by the frequency settings after the modification. The first and second offset control values are used to control an offset of applying to a frequency control signal of an oscillator () of the phase locked loop (). The offset controlled by the first control offset value is applied during a predetermined time interval before the offset controlled by the second control offset value is applied.

Electronic circuit frequency generation

Devices () for exchanging ultra wide band signals comprise frequency translating stages () for frequency translating signals and oscillating stages () for supplying main inphase/quadrature oscillation signals to the frequency translating stages (). By providing the oscillating stages () with polyphase filters () for reducing harmonics in oscillation signals, the main oscillation signals will be sufficiently clean. The oscillating stages () comprise mixers () for converting first inphase/quadrature oscillation signals and second inphase/quadrature oscillation signals into the main oscillation signals. The polyphase filters () may be located before and after the mixers (). Frequency selectors () replace prior art multiplexers located after the mixers (). Such frequency selectors () comprise multiplexers () for supplying the second inphase/quadrature oscillation signals, with a combination of these second oscillation signals corresponding with a positive frequency, a negative frequency or a zero frequency, and comprise coders () for controlling the multiplexers ().

Device for ultra wide band frequency generating

A traveling-wave amplifier includes amplifiers coupled anti-parallel to transmission lines. Phase(s) of the amplifiers provide phase matching, which may additionally or alternately be provided by couplers or spatial offset of the amplifiers and couplers. The traveling-wave amplifier provides compensation for the losses of the transmission lines, amplification of the signals and isolation between input and output by coupling the amplifiers to the transmission lines anti-parallel.
