The present disclosure provides a wire or cable comprising a flame retardant-free thermoplastic inner sheath and an outer sheath composition comprising, based on the weight of the composition, (a) 10 wt % to 90 wt % of a TPU based resin, (b) 5 wt % to 90 wt % of a metal hydrate, (c) 2 wt % to 50 wt % of a nitrogen-based phosphorus flame retardant, and (d) 2 wt % to 50 wt % liquid phosphate modifier, wherein the outer sheath is in contact with the insulation covering, and wherein the outer sheath has a thickness from greater than zero to 0.8 mm.

Cross-linkable polymeric compositions having an ethylene-based polymer, an organic peroxide, and a polyallyl cross-linking coagent, where the polyallyl cross-linking coagent and the organic peroxide are present in amounts sufficient to provide an allyl-to-active oxygen molar ratio of at least 1.6, based on the allyl content of the polyallyl cross-linking coagent and the active oxygen content of the organic peroxide. This invention provides intumescent, halogen-free, polymeric, silicon-phosphorus-nitrogen (SPN) flame retardant, a process for their preparation, and systems, compositions and articles into which they are incorporated. The inventive intumescent, halogen-free, SPN polymer compositions afford good flame retardant performance at a lower loading compared to conventional phosphorus and nitrogen based intumescent flame retardant compositions.
