Integrated systems and methods providing situational awareness of operations in an organization

A method for covertly acquiring data. Information about an activity associated with a first hand-held device is monitored by initiating covert application software in a first configuration in which a log-in must first be input to the first device. When running the software in the first configuration, no image which overtly exhibits a self-evident association with the software can be viewed on the display to identify the software or indicate that the software is running on the client. Prior to initiating monitoring with the software, a feature having no self-evident association with the covert application software can be accessed on a touch screen display of the device to initiate the software.

System and method for acquiring data with a handheld device

In one embodiment there is disclosed a response system () comprising first and second server based systems () each providing real time awareness of personnel () for different organizations, the first system receiving information for a first organization and the second system receiving information for a second organization, the first system coupled to the second system to communicate information generated in the first system to personnel in the second organization via the second system to facilitate timely and appropriate response by personnel in the second organization to an emergency situation in the first organization.

Distributed processing network system, integrated response systems and methods providing situational awareness information for emergency response

A method providing persons in a group information about the whereabouts of others in the group, including whether persons in the group have moved away from an associated vehicle. The method includes receiving information into a computer system derived from measured rf signal strength sent in digital form from one or more portable devices. The information indicates whether any of the persons has moved from a first relatively close position with respect to an associated vehicle and farther away from the associated vehicle than the first position. A timer function may be initiated if the received information indicates that a first person has moved farther away from the associated vehicle than the first position. Updated information may be received, indicating whether the first person remains farther away from, or has moved to a position at least as close as the first relatively close position is to, the associated vehicle.

System and method for situational awareness

A system for determining the location of a person relative to a vehicle. In one embodiment, the system includes a first device comprising a first Bluetooth transceiver in the vehicle, a portable second device comprising a second Bluetooth transceiver and a first application program. The first application program identifies a first condition in which a link based on Bluetooth RF transmission exists between the first device and the second device when the person is in a first position close to or in the vehicle. The application program determines when the link is broken based on drop in signal level and provides notification through a network to a computer system when a determination is made that the link is broken. The notification is indicative of the person having moved farther away from the vehicle to a second position.

A method for identifying a gunshot occurrence. According to one embodiment, microphone data and inertial motion data are acquired with a hand-held device. Based on an acoustic criterion, a determination is made as to whether a gunshot has been produced. Based on a correlation criterion applied to the inertial motion data, a determination is made as to whether the gunshot was produced from fire produced by a first person having physical possession of the hand-held device or by a second person spaced away from the first person.

System and method for detecting and analyzing near range weapon fire

A method for determining location of a person relative to a vehicle. A first device comprising a Bluetooth transceiver is associated with the person, and a second device comprising a Bluetooth transceiver is associated with the vehicle. The method includes determining whether the strength of a signal received by one device from the other device via has diminished below a predetermined level, in which case a notification is provided to a computer system via wireless data communication that the status has changed from a first link status wherein the first device is within a predeterminable distance from the second device to a second link status wherein the first device is beyond the predeterminable distance from the second device.
