A plug for sealing a wellbore includes a mandrel extending between an uphole end defining an uphole end of the plug, and a downhole end opposite the uphole end of the mandrel, a slip assembly extending around the mandrel and including a plurality of arcuate slip segments, a nose coupled to the downhole end of the mandrel and defining a downhole end of the plug, wherein the nose includes an uphole end coupled to the downhole end of the mandrel and a downhole end opposite the uphole end of the nose and defining a downhole end of the plug, and a packer extending around the mandrel and including a first configuration configured to permit fluid flow across the plug when the plug is received in the wellbore, and a second configuration configured to seal the wellbore when the plug is positioned in the wellbore.

Systems and methods for sealing a wellbore

A toolstring for plugging and perforating a wellbore includes a perforating gun extending between an uphole end and a downhole end longitudinally opposed to the uphole end, a plugging assembly extending between an uphole end and a downhole end longitudinally opposed to the uphole end of the plugging assembly, the plug assembly including a setting tool physically attached directly to the perforating gun, the setting tool including an elongate housing extending between an uphole end and a downhole end opposite the uphole end of the housing, an open passageway extending from the uphole end to the downhole end of the housing, and wherein the setting tool further includes an elongate mandrel positioned in the open passageway and having an uphole end and a downhole end opposite the uphole end of the mandrel, and a combustion chamber located within the elongate housing for receiving an energetic charge.

Plugging assemblies for plugging cased wellbores

A plug for sealing a wellbore includes a mandrel assembly including an inner rod and a filament wound outer rod that is separate and distinct from the inner rod and which is formed about the inner rod, and a packer disposed about the mandrel assembly, the packer configured to seal the wellbore in response to the plug being actuated from a first position to a second position, wherein the mandrel assembly is configured to apply a compressive force to the packer as the plug is actuated from the first position to the second position.

Mandrel assemblies for a plug and associated methods

A plug for sealing a wellbore includes a mandrel including a body having a longitudinal first end, a longitudinal second end opposite the first end, and an outer surface, wherein a plurality of ratchet teeth are positioned on the outer surface and formed of a fiber reinforced composite material, an annular seal positioned on the outer surface of the mandrel, wherein the seal includes a first longitudinal end and a second longitudinal end opposite the first end; and a body lock ring assembly positioned on the outer surface of the mandrel and located between the first end of the mandrel and the seal, wherein the body lock ring assembly includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced arcuate lock ring segments surrounding the mandrel, wherein an inner surface of each lock ring segment includes a plurality of ratchet teeth configured to matingly engage the ratchet teeth of the mandrel.

A plugging assembly includes a plug and a setting tool attached directly to the plug, wherein the plug includes an elongate core with an uphole end and a downhole end opposite the uphole end, and a sealing element disposed fully around the core to seal against the casing. The plug additionally includes an anchoring system for anchoring the plug to the casing in a fixed position, a compression fitting disposed around the core at or near the uphole end of the core, and a nose at the downhole end of the core. The setting tool includes an elongate housing extending between an uphole end and a downhole end opposite the uphole end, an open passageway extending from the uphole end to the downhole end of the housing, and the downhole end of the housing is aligned to directly engage the compression fitting of the plug.

A plug for sealing a wellbore includes a slip assembly including a plurality of arcuate slip segments, a nose cone coupled to the slip assembly and including a first end and a second end opposite the first end, wherein at least one of the slip assembly and the nose cone includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced pockets, and wherein at least one of the slip assembly and the nose cone includes a plurality of circumferentially spaced protrusions configured to be received in the pockets.

An insert for a slip of a downhole tool including a base, a first button, a second button, and a connecting member. The first and second buttons extend from the base and are configured to engage an inner diameter surface of a tubular. The connecting member extends from the base and is positioned between the first button and the second button.
