Disclosed herein are systems, apparatus, methods, and articles of manufacture to present three dimensional images without glasses. An example apparatus includes a micro lens array and at least one processor. The at least one processor is to: determine a first position of a first pupil of a viewer; determine a second position of a second pupil of the viewer; align a first eye box with the first position of the first pupil; align a second eye box with the second position of the second pupil; render, for presentation on a display, at least one of a color plus depth image or a light field image based on the first position of the first pupil and the second position of the second pupil; and cause backlight to be steered through the micro lens array and alternatingly through the first eye box and the second eye box.

In one example, a head-mounted display (HMD) device includes multiple display panels arranged in parallel with each other. Each of the display panels is associated with one of multiple focal lengths. The HMD device includes multiple lenses to view a three-dimensional (3D) scene on the display panels. The HMD device also includes a controller to provide a frame of the 3D scene, viewable at the focal lengths. The frames include focal layers generated at one of the focal lengths. The frames are rendered by displaying the focal layers in a sequence on the display panels associated with the focal length at which the focal layer is generated. The controller also allows visible light to pass through one or more of the display panels based on whether the render planes are between an active focal layer and the lenses.

In some examples, a three dimensional display system includes a display (for example, a display screen or a display panel), a micro lens array, and an eye tracker to track one or more eyes of a person and to provide eye location information. The display system also includes a rendering processor to render or capture color plus depth images (for example, RGB-D images) or light field images. The display system also includes a light field processor to use the eye location information to convert the rendered color plus depth images or light field images to display images to be provided to the display.

Systems, devices, and techniques related to thin form factor head mounted displays and near light field displays are discussed. Such devices may include a display to present elemental images, a primary lens array in an optical path between the display and a viewing zone of a user, the primary lens array to magnify elemental images to a viewing zone, and a secondary array of optical elements between the display and the primary lens array to concentrate elemental images from the display to the primary lens array.

A device may comprise a capture logic module to receive at least one of biometric data from a biometric sensing module, context data from a context sensing module or content data from a content sensing module. The capture logic module may determine if a capture scenario exists based on at least one of the biometric data and context data. The determination may be weighted based on an operational mode. If a capture scenario is determined to exist, the capture logic module may then determine whether to capture data based on at least the content data. Captured data may be stored in a capture database in the device (e.g., along with enhanced metadata based on at least one of the biometric data, the context data or the content data). The device may also comprise a feedback database including feedback data.
