A wearable virtual retinal display (VRD) device configured to be worn by a person comprises a spectacle-like frame puttable on a head of said person; said spectacle-like frame carrying following elements disposed along a laser beam: (a) a laser light source configured for generating said laser beam at at least one radiation frequency; (b) a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) configured for scanning said laser beam forming a laser radiation pattern to be projected to a person's retina; (c) a lens; (d) a selective reflector positionable in front of a person's eye. The selective reflector is configured for reflecting laser radiation at the at least one frequency. The selective reflector has a piecewise-smooth reflective surface comprising a plurality of curvilinear selective reflecting elements, which in cooperation with said lens are configured for directing said laser radiation pattern onto a person's retina; said laser radiation pattern being scanned by said MEMS forms an image of an object of interest on said person's retina.

Optical device suitable for illuminating the retina

A variety of refueling devices, systems and methods are disclosed for use in in-flight refueling. In one example one such device is towed by a tanker aircraft via a fuel hose at least during in-flight refueling, and has a boom member with a boom axis. The boom member enables fuel to be transferred from the fuel hose to a receiver aircraft along the boom axis during in-flight refueling. The device maintains a desired non-zero angular disposition between the boom axis and a forward direction at least when the refueling device is towed by the tanker aircraft in the forward direction via the fuel hose.

A tracking scanning laser optics device configured for mounting in hedger having at least one opening for positioning in front of an eye of a user includes a mounting unit, an invisible light source supported by the mounting unit for directing invisible light through pupil, and at least one visible light source supported by the mounting unit for directing visible light through the pupil for writing on the retina within a portion thereof scanned by 2-D scanning optics supported by the mounting unit. An imaging device supported by the mounting unit receives at least the invisible light reflected by the retina and stores an image thereof, and a calibration unit operative in conjunction with the 2-D scanning optics determines an origin in 2-D space for serving as a reference point for identifying a location of the portion within the retina.

Compact retinal scanning device for tracking movement of the eye's pupil and applications thereof

There are provided a method of evaluating an area located behind a structure and a system thereof. The system includes: at least one source of electro-magnetic radiation adapted to illuminate a structure portion and to illuminate a area portion via openings formed between elements of the structure while a relative movement is introduced between the structure and the system; multiple detectors adapted to detect electro-magnetic radiation returned from the structure portion and from the area portion; a computing unit adapted to: (i) generate, in response to the detected electro-magnetic radiation, a simplified representation the area portion; and (ii) evaluate the area portion in response to a relationship between the simplified representation of the area portion and a reference simplified representation of the area portion.

System and method for evaluating an area

There is provided a system and method for locating a physical alteration, if such exists, in a structure having a substantially planar surface comprising a plurality of elements capable of scattering electro-magnetic radiation and openings arranged between the elements, according to one embodiment, the system comprises a moving platform for providing relative motion of the system with respect to the structure; at least one source of coherent electro-magnetic radiation configured for illuminating at least a portion of said surface in its relative motion with respect to the structure; at least a first and a second detection unit each operable along a different collection direction and configured for collecting electro-magnetic radiation reflected from said at least a portion of the surface and for generating an intensity pattern of the reflected radiation indicative of an arrangement of the elements and openings; and a computing unit configured for generating a segmented map of the portion based on said intensity patterns, by associating each segment with location data indicative of the location of the segment and occurrence data indicative of an occurrence of the alteration, thereby allowing to compare said map to a reference model and determine the location of the alteration, if such exists.
