An example embodiment of a differential pressure material processing system includes a tank, a holding member, and a sheet of tissue disposed within the holding member. The holding member defines a first holding member chamber and a second holding member chamber. The first holding member chamber has a first pressure when a fluid is disposed within the first holding member chamber. The second holding member chamber has a second pressure when a fluid is disposed within the second holding member chamber. The second pressure is different than the first pressure.

The disclosure relates to cannulae, delivery systems, methods of making cannulae, and methods of making delivery systems. A delivery system comprises an elongate outer tubular member defining an outer tubular member lumen, a cannula having a circumferential wall extending between a proximal end and a distal end and defining an interior lumen, and an intraluminal medical device disposed within the outer tubular member lumen distal to the cannula and not about the cannula. A pattern of openings arranged in an interrupted spiral extends circumferentially along the cannula.

An example of a material processing apparatus includes a holding member, a base, a tensioning member, an actuator, and a first inner member. The holding member defines a holding member passageway. The tensioning member is moveable relative to the holding member between a first position and a second position. The actuator is attached to the tensioning member and is moveable in a first direction and a second direction. Movement of the actuator results in movement of the tensioning member between its first position and second position. The first inner member is adapted to be disposed within the tensioning member passageway.

Storage devices, loading devices, delivery systems, kits, and associated methods for implantable medical devices are described. An example embodiment of a storage device includes a storage member, a first cap, and a second cap. The storage member has a first end, a second end, and a main body that defines a first opening, a second opening, a passageway, a separating wall, and a plurality of holes. The passageway has a first portion and a second portion. The first portion extends from the first end of the storage member to the separating wall and the second portion extends from the second end of the storage member to the separating wall. Each hole of the plurality of holes extends through the separating wall and provides access between the first portion and the second portion. Each of the first and second caps is releasably attached to the storage member.

Disclosed herein is a device for disrupting material in a body vessel and a method for making such a device. The device includes a plurality of arms disposed circumferentially about an axis. Each arm includes two blades; one sharper, and one blunter. The sharper blades are all oriented in the same direction, clockwise or counterclockwise, such that when the device is rotated in a first direction, the sharper blades engage the material, and in the other, the duller blades engage the material.

The present disclosure describes intraluminal support devices having high radial stiffness regions with smaller diameter and low radial stiffness regions with larger diameter. When deployed to the vasculature of a patient in need of treatment, the high radial stiffness region is sized such that it has approximately the diameter of the vessel in need of treatment, so that it produces substantially zero chronic radial force when the vessel is not being subjected to external compression. The low radial stiffness regions anchor the device to the vessel wall and provide a less-abrupt transition from the high radial stiffness structure. Methods of making and using such devices are also described.

Support frames and medical devices are described. An example medical device comprises an expandable support frame with first and second leaflets attached to the support frame. Each of the first and second leaflets defines a domed radius that is equal to or less than the radius of the expandable support frame when the expandable support frame is in an expanded configuration and the leaflets are subjected to fluid pressure sufficient to affect closure of the valve orifice.

A method of treatment for a body vessel is provided. The body vessel includes a dissection flap formed from a wall of the body vessel, which longitudinally separates a natural body vessel lumen into a true lumen and a false lumen. One or more cuts are formed in the dissection flap with a cutting device or system. An expandable device is inserted within the true lumen, and expanded to reappose the dissection flap against the wall of the body vessel where the dissection flap was detached from the wall such that the false lumen is closed. The distal end defines a hook having one or more sharpened edges disposed within the notch of the hook. Methods of making cutting devices are also described.

An ultra-sonic medical dissector includes a vibration generator and a wire that defines a cutting loop remote from a first end and a second end. The wire is coupled to the vibration generator in a cutting configuration, and a cutting surface is located on an inner curvature of the cutting loop. A vibration is generated by the vibration generator is transmitted to the cutting loop by the wire when the wire is in tension. The cutting loop can free an embedded end of a vena cava filter from a vessel wall to ease retrieval.

Ultra-sonic medical dissector and method of disembedding a medical device from soft tissue

An implanted device, such as an inferior vena cava filter, that is partially embedded in soft tissue is retrieved by coupling a vibration device to the implanted device. The implanted device is disembedded from the soft tissue at least in part by generating a vibration with a vibration generator, transmitting the vibration along the vibration transmission apparatus to the implanted device, and vibrating the implanted device. The implanted device is then moved away from the embedding site. A medical device assembly includes the vibration generator, the implantable device and the vibration transmission apparatus.
