The seed crystal chambermay be located closer to the cold platethan the mold chamber. The seed crystal chambermay facilitate formation of a seed ice crystal from which the clear ice may form. By taking advantage of the lower thermal conductivity of water as compared to ice or aluminum, the seed crystal chambermay further discourage the water in the mold chamberfrom sub cooling and flash freezing as the seed crystal is being formed. Flash freezing occurs when water is subcooled below its freezing point and then exposed to an ice crystal, which causes the subcooled water to rapidly freeze. The seed crystal chambermay promote directional freezing in the mold chamber, which promotes clear ice. Thermal conductivity of ice is higher than that of water, which may facilitate freezing from the seed crystal chamberup through the mold chamberonce the seed crystal is formed.

This disclosure provides methods and apparatus for a beverage brewer. The beverage brewer including a burner, a reservoir, a controller, and a thermoelectric generator. The burner produces combustible heat across a surface. The reservoir stores a brewing fluid. The controller controls a brewing process. The thermoelectric generator is structured with a supply side, a waste side and a power output. The supply side is directed towards the surface of the burner. The waste side contacts the reservoir. The power output powers the controller.

This disclosure provides an apparatus for a thermoelectric (TE) contrast therapy device and related methods. The thermoelectric contrast therapy device includes a control node () and a plurality of thermoelectric nodes (). The control node electrically and mechanically connected to the plurality of thermoelectric nodes, the control node configured to direct the heating and cooling functions as well as timing functions. Each of thermoelectric nodes includes a thermoelectric module () structured with a supply side () and a waste side (), a phase change material (), a reservoir (), a thermal sink (), a spreader () and a controller (). The thermoelectric contrast therapy device pre-charges () the PCM contained in the reservoir; provides () opposite heating and cooling functions using the supply side and the waste side of the thermoelectric module; and directs, using the controller, the heating and cooling functions as well as timing functions.

A frozen substance maker includes a heat pump, a cold plate, a mold base, a mold top, and an agitator. The cold plate is in thermal communication with the heat pump. The mold base is positioned on the cold plate. The mold base and the cold plate define a seed crystal chamber. The mold top is positioned on the mold base. The mold base and the mold top define a mold cavity in fluid communication with the seed crystal chamber. The mold top defines an overflow reservoir in fluid communication with the mold chamber. The agitator is located at least partially within the overflow reservoir.

A system comprises a thermoelectric device, and a baseplate coupled to a first side of the thermoelectric device. The system also comprises a band coupled to the baseplate and a container. The band may be adjustable in a circumference and configured to thermally couple the baseplate and the container.

The disclosure includes an apparatus and a method for forming a frozen substance using directional freezing. The apparatus includes a mold and a directional freezing assembly. The mold is structured with an interior chamber structured to contain a liquid substance. The directional freezing assembly includes a directional freezing probe and a cold plate. The directional freezing probe extends into the interior chamber of the mold and initiates directional freezing of the liquid substance surrounding the directional freezing probe. The cold plate is connected to the directional freezing probe outside of the mold and dissipates heat drawn from the directional freezing probe to a surrounding environment.

This disclosure provides an apparatus for a portable thermal power station and related methods. The power station includes a burner, a reservoir, an output power plug, and a thermoelectric generator. The burner produces combustible heat across a surface. The reservoir stores a cooling fluid. The output power plug electrically connects to an external device. The thermoelectric generator receives heat energy, converts the heat energy to electrical energy, outputs the converted electrical energy to the external device, and disperses excess heat energy to the reservoir.

Portable thermal power station

A thermoelectric cooling system includes at least one thermoelectric cooling module and an electronic circuit. The at least one thermoelectric cooling module is arranged in at least one zone. The electronic circuit is electrically coupled to at least one of the thermoelectric cooling modules. Each of the thermoelectric cooling modules includes a first plate, a sink, a plurality of thermoelectric elements, and a second plate. The thermoelectric elements are coupled to the first plate and the second plate. The first plate is arranged to be thermally coupled to a first surface. The plurality of ductile fibers are configured to transfer heat between the second plate and the environment.

Flexible sink for a thermoelectric energy generation system

A system includes a first plate and a second plate. The first plate is arranged to be thermally coupled to a first surface and the second plate is arranged to be thermally coupled to an environment. The environment has a temperature that is different than the first surface. The system also includes a thermoelectric device that includes a plurality of thermoelectric elements. The thermoelectric device includes a third plate coupled to the plurality of thermoelectric elements and thermally coupled to the first plate. The thermoelectric device also includes a fourth plate coupled to the plurality of thermoelectric elements and thermally coupled to the second plate. The system also includes a dielectric fluid arranged between the first plate and the second plate. The thermoelectric elements are submersed in the dielectric fluid.

System for thermoelectric energy generation

In one embodiment, a system includes a strap configured to be coupled to a container. The strap includes a plurality of plates arranged to allow the strap to flex. The system also includes a thermoelectric device coupled to the strap. The strap is configured to transfer heat between the thermoelectric device and the container. The system includes a thermal interface situated between the thermoelectric device and the strap.

Thermoelectric remote power source

In accordance with one embodiment of the present disclosure, a thermoelectric device includes a plurality of thermoelectric elements that each include a diffusion barrier. The diffusion barrier includes a refractory metal. The thermoelectric device also includes a plurality of conductors coupled to the plurality of thermoelectric elements. The plurality of conductors include aluminum. In addition, the thermoelectric device includes at least one plate coupled to the plurality of thermoelectric elements using a braze. The braze includes aluminum.
