A system may comprise: a reader device comprising: one or more memories; and one or more processors communicatively coupled to the one or more memories. The one or more processors may be configured to: obtain, using a wireless local area network communication, sensor data from a plurality of sensor devices associated with a machine; identify, from the sensor data, information identifying a sensor device of the plurality of sensor devices; generate sensor device information that associates the information identifying the sensor device with information identifying a component of the machine; and transmit the sensor device information to cause the machine to be updated using the sensor device information.

Automatically obtaining sensor data for machine update

A system for tracking usage of a work implement includes a movement characteristic sensor, a wireless transmitter, and a controller. The controller is configured to determine whether movement of the work implement exceeds a movement characteristic threshold based upon the movement characteristic signals, increase a work implement usage time by a cycle time interval if the movement of the work implement exceeds the movement characteristic threshold, and transmit with a wireless transmitter on the work implement the work implement usage time and the unique identification number to a system remote from the work implement. Further, the controller is configured to sequentially operate in a standard power mode and in a low power mode, and while in the low power mode, power to at least one of the movement characteristic sensor and the wireless transmitter is terminated.

System and method for determining usage of work implement

A short-range wireless device includes a short-range data transmission component transmitting data at a first signal strength. A movement detection device provides an indication that a work tool supporting the short-range wireless device is in a coupled configuration with a machine, or is intended to be coupled with the machine. A processor reduces the first signal strength to a second signal strength in response to the indication. The short-range data transmission component then transmits data at the second signal strength.

Wireless system and method for connected work tool identification

An example described herein may include receiving a signal associated with a short range wireless communication device. The signal may be received via a receiver device configured to receive the signal when the short range wireless communication device is within an angular range of detection associated with the device. An example may involve determining a value of a parameter associated with the signal and/or determining that the short range wireless communication device is within a threshold distance of a machine based on the value of the parameter. An example may involve performing an action based on the short range wireless communication device being within the threshold distance of the machine.

Proximity detection using a short range wireless communication device

A system and method to access a machine through a mobile device includes sending a machine key to a controller on-board the machine, and a mobile device key to the mobile device using a remote server. The mobile device sends a mobile device ID to the controller. The controller determines the mobile device key based on the mobile device ID and the machine key. The controller sends a random number to the mobile device. The mobile device processes the random number to derive a first processed random number, and sends the first processed random number to the controller. The controller processes the random number to derive a second processed random number. The controller enables a start button to send a request to start the machine, when the first processed random number matches the second processed random number. The controller starts the machine upon receiving the request to start the machine.

Starting a machine through a mobile device

A sender device is provided. The sender device may include a peripheral device, a transceiver in communication with at least one recipient device, and a controller in communication with the peripheral device and the transceiver. The controller may be configured to receive a signal from the peripheral device, determine a state of the sender device based on the signal, select an advertisement packet based on the state of the sender device, and transmit the advertisement packet to at least one recipient device including data requested by the recipient device.

A tracking system for a work tool is disclosed. The tracking system may include a tracking device coupled to the work tool and configured to transmit a work tool identification signal and a scanning device configured to scan and detect the work tool identification signal within the area around the scanning device and the tracking device. A location identification module and a communication module may be coupled to the scanning device and configured to receive the work tool identification signal, generate a work tool location signal including a location indicator and an identification of the work tool, add a date and time stamp to the work tool location signal and transmit the work tool location signal to an asset location center. The tracking system may further include a controller configured to receive and save the work tool location signal with the date and time stamp into an asset location database.

A method for wireless authentication of a device to a machine is provided. The device has a sensor and the method includes sensing, by a sensor of the device, a first input pattern of physical parameters received at the device. The method includes wirelessly transmitting, from the device, an identification signal to a machine upon said sensing of the first input pattern. The method includes wirelessly receiving, at the device, an authentication signal indicating an authentication of the device, wherein the device is configured to interact with the machine upon the wireless receiving of the authentication.
