A device and method for more accurately measuring power consumption in a residential application without having to make connections to high voltage sources in a distribution panel. Since the device calculating the power consumption generally needs to be powered to perform its functions (e.g., plugged into wall outlet), the disclosure utilizes the power supply as a voltage source for measuring voltage without having to make connections to the panel.

Device for measuring two phase power with single voltage input

A system associated with a home energy gateway (HEG) is provided. The system includes a database having a plurality of data entry blocks, each block corresponding to a time interval and an internal database timing device configured to sync with an external real-time time server and maintain accurate time in the database. The home energy gateway is configured to add time-stamped data entries to the database. A homeowner may select a time period for a power outage so that the system sends an alert if the time period power outage is exceeded.

Storing data following a power outage and without a proper time source

A method and device for managing the operating conditions of a refrigerator unit using a single sensor are disclosed. The method includes the steps of determining a sensor temperature of a refrigerator unit, determining to which a plurality of disjoint temperatures regions the temperature lies within and setting an operating condition of each of a plurality of components of the refrigerator unit based on the determined temperature region.
