The particular application or service may be associated with a class of applications or services based on the information. A type of personal data collected may be determined for each application or service in the associated class. For the particular application or service, a risk metric indicative of a type of personal data collected by the particular application or service in relation to the type of personal data collected by other applications or services in the associated class may be determined. An additional application or service with a lower risk than the particular application or service may be recommended.

Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed for locating mobile devices using wireless signals in mixed mode. A disclosed method includes generating an access point signal matrix based on signal strength values based on first signal data collected at a mobile device corresponding to first signals received from a plurality of access points for a first period of time, and based on second signal data collected at the plurality of access points corresponding to second signals received from the mobile device and the plurality of access points for a second period of time, determining a first group of contour perimeters corresponding to first ones of the signal strength values in the access point signal matrix that satisfy a first threshold, the first group of contour perimeters including an obstructed contour perimeter corresponding to second ones of the signal strength values in the access point signal matrix that do not satisfy the first threshold, determining a second group of contour perimeters by replacing the obstructed contour perimeter with a corrected contour perimeter, and determining a location of the mobile device based on the second group of contour perimeters including the corrected contour perimeter.

Methods and apparatus for locating mobile devices using wireless signals in mixed mode

Determining sensitive information and preventing the unauthorized or unintended dissemination of such information are disclosed. Terms are determined from documents associated with users in a network. Distributions among users and relative frequencies with which the terms are used are determined. Link strengths between users are calculated. Based on the distribution of the terms, the relative frequencies of use among the user profiles and link strengths between users conducting information transactions that include the terms, a sensitivity level for each term can be determined. To determine whether a particular information transaction with particular terms may be conducted between two users in the network, a combination of link strength between the users and sensitivity level of the terms with respect to the users or users' profiles are considered. If the information transaction includes terms that are unknown to one of the users, then a warning or alarm can be raised.

Identifying and preventing leaks of sensitive information

Disclosed are methods for extracting and using information about an entity that has a presence in a number of information domains. The entity has separate identifiers in each of several domains. Various techniques are described that bind together the identifiers of the entity across the domains. The results of the binding are provided to an interested party that can review information extracted about the entity's behavior in the multiple domains. The interested party is not given access to information that would compromise the confidentiality of the entity. A trusted broker has access to information about the behavior of the entity in the several domains. The broker analyzes that information and provides the analysis to the interested party, again without compromising the confidentiality of the entity. An 'incentivizer' works with the broker to extract from the domains information that would be useful in binding together the different identifiers of the entity.

A method intercepts correlation instructions related to a plurality of meta-content elements associated with a primary content. A disclosed content rights management system defines a content usage policy via a conditional rule set contained in metadata. The conditional rule set is correlated to at least one second content. An access control manager determines, dynamically, access rights conferrable to a user device or a server, based on the content usage policy and user history parameters. The embodiments may confer limited access rights for a first activity by a user device, or by a server, with respect to the protected content and the second content, and block a second activity with respect to the protected content and the second content, in response to determining that the request for the second content, in conjunction with the user history parameters, does not comply with the conditional rule set for the second activity.

Content rights protection with arbitrary correlation of second content

Apparatuses and methods for providing improved in-vehicle warnings are disclosed. A driver's prior driving performance and a summary representation of that performance may be used as parameters in a hazard or collision warning algorithm. Information from sensors regarding the vehicle, driver, and external traffic and roadway conditions may be used to estimate driver performance variables in particular driving situations. Each driver performance estimate may be included into one or more overall summary variables for that driving situation. The value of these summary variables may then be used in an algorithm to control the nature and timing of a warning, when a similar situation arises again in the future.

A vehicle (), such as an automobile, has an indicia controller () that can determine, via one or more direction-of-visual-attention sensors () a likely direction of visual attention for a given occupant of the vehicle such as, for example, the driver or another passenger. When a predetermined condition is sensed by one or more condition sensors () (such as, for example, a predetermined hazard or other unsafe operating condition), the indicia controller can determine whether the monitored person is likely looking in a direction that likely includes the condition of concern. A particular condition indicia () as corresponds to the detected condition can then be provided as a function, at least in part, of whether the driver or other monitored person is already likely looking at, and is hence aware of, the detecting condition.
