The present disclosure discloses a page wide array (PWA) printer () particularly but not exclusively for performing print jobs while maximizing print bar performance uniformity within the printer. The PWA printer includes a print bar which can be moved laterally and a controller which causes the print bar to laterally move from a first to a second position and causes the nozzles within the print bar to print an image while the print bar is in the second position without modifying the lateral alignment of the image.

According to an example, in a method for mitigating damage to a plurality of drop generators in a printing system, data corresponding to an image to be printed on a media by the printing system may be accessed. In addition, the plurality of drop generators may be controlled to print the image on the media while mitigating damage to the plurality of drop generators and without shifting placement of the image on the media or shifting the plurality of drop generators in a direction perpendicular to a feed direction of the media.

Mitigating damage to drop generators in a printing system

In an example, a non-transitory processor-readable medium stores code representing instructions that when executed by a processor cause a printing system to determine a text and line print mode or a graphics print mode to use for printing upcoming image content. The printing system selects a first nozzle column to print the image content when the text and line print mode is determined, and selects a second nozzle column to print the image content when the graphics print mode is determined.

The present disclosure provides ink sets and related methods. An ink set can comprise an ink including an ink colorant and an ink vehicle, the ink devoid of metal salt; a treatment fluid including a latex, the treatment fluid devoid of thickener and colorant; and a fixer fluid including a precipitating agent, the fixer fluid devoid of colorant.

A print method, print apparatus and printed medium include forming a black portion of an image from two inks. The first ink () includes first carbon black pigment units () and a first binder (). The first carbon black pigment units () have a median dibutylphthalate absortion (DBP) of at least 95 cc/100 g. The first ink () has a first ratio of the first carbon black pigment units to the first binder. The second ink () includes second carbon black pigment units and a second binder. The second ink has a second ratio of the second carbon black pigment units to the second binder less than the first ratio. The first ink and the second ink together have a median total weight per unit area of at least 70 percent of an absorptive capacity of the print medium and overlap one another, wherein the second ink is at least 54 percent of the total weight per unit area.

Print method, print apparatus and printed upon medium

A method for improving gloss of a print includes configuring a printing system to deposit ink drops from a plurality of inks in an ink set onto a print surface. During the depositing, the printing system is further configured to control micro-coalescence of the ink drops. The micro-coalescence is controlled by i) depositing the ink drops onto the print surface according to a predefined order of color based upon solids content, ii) adjusting a number of printing passes, iii) adjusting a delay time between the printing passes, and/or iv) depositing different amounts of the ink drops onto the print surface during different printing passes.
