A closure comprises a hub with a central opening and a head positionable within the hub, the head sealing the central opening when in a closed position, a spool rotatable about a post extending from the head, wherein rotation of the spool causes axial movement of the spool along the post, a plurality of radial arms extending from the spool to a plurality of locking segments.

Tool-less closure

An actuated breach lock, comprises a hub for positioning on a pressurizable vessel, the hub being generally circular and having a central opening, a bearing surface disposed within the central opening, a head hingedly connected to the hub and having a shape which complements the central opening and which is received within the central opening, the hub having a plurality of teeth extending radially inward and separated by a plurality of gaps, a locking ring rotatably positioned on the head, the locking ring having a plurality of ring teeth separated by a plurality of ring gaps, each of the teeth having a circumferential length less than a circumferential length of the gaps in the hub, the bearing surface of the hub having an angle and the head having a bearing surface at the angle, the locking ring having a polygonal cross-section including two sides which engage the bearing surfaces respectively, the locking ring engaged by head and hub when the head is in a closed position, the closed position creating a line of force which is aligned from the head through the ring and to the hub, an actuator assembly disposed radially inwardly of the locking ring, the actuator assembly engaging the locking ring and causing rotation of locking between one of a first locked and unlocked position and the other of the locked and unlocked position, the locking ring in compression when the head is closed and having a line of force being substantially aligned from the hub through the head.

Actuated breach lock

A closure comprises a hub with a central opening and a head pivotally connected to the hub, the head sealing the central opening when in a closed position, a spool rotatable about a post extending from the head, wherein rotation of the spool causes axial movement of the spool along the post, a plurality of radial arms extending from the spool to a plurality of locking segments.

A closure () having a hub () and pivotally connected head (). The head is locked in a closed position within the hub by a locking ring (). The locking ring is polygonal in shape and includes a substantially cylindrical surface and a conical surface. The device further includes a pressure warning device () which has a secondary function as a locking mechanism inhibiting unintentional opening of the head when the system is pressurized.

Closure having a segmented locking ring

A pressure retaining closure assembly has a door hingedly mounted to a pipe, vessel, or hub extending therefrom with an arcuate locking ring movably retained proximate an outer perimeter surface thereof. The locking ring is suitable to contract out of a groove in an opening in the pipe, vessel, or hub extending therefrom into an unlocking position and is suitable to expand wherein an outer portion of the locking ring extends into the groove in the opening in the pipe, vessel, or hub extending therefrom into a locking orientation. A locking ring actuator is provided having cylinder with a piston therein. The piston has a rod extending axially therefrom with a portion extending beyond the cylinder. Optionally, a bracket is mounted to the portion of the piston rod extending beyond the cylinder and a bracket is mounted proximate the bottom of the cylinder. In this embodiment, a slider rod may be incorporated where the slider rod has a first end portion mounted to one of the brackets and a second end portion slidingly engaging the other bracket providing stability to the actuator assembly. A ring actuating arm may be pivotally connected to each bracket and secured proximate each end of the arcuate locking ring providing rotating engagement between the piston rod and a first point of the locking ring and rotating engagement between the cylinder and a second point of the locking ring.
