A time domain filter receives a double sideband (DSB) input in the frequency domain and compresses this input into a time domain signal filtered by a time gate for providing a time filtered signal that is then expanded back into the frequency domain as a single sideband (SSB) output with one sideband being filtered by the time gate for translating DSB signals into SSB signals well suited for communicating chirped modulated signals as SSB signals along an electrical line or optical fiber without dispersive nulling of the communicated signal.

Time-domain gated filter for RF communication systems

An electrically modulated plasmonic junction generates surface plasmons from an electrical signal from an electrical source, with the tunnel junction having a contact with a tapered end forming the junction in a gap between the contact and a substrate, with the gap serving to translate electrical signals into surface plasmons that are in turn translated into emitted photons communicated externally through a transmissive oxide, so that the junction can function as an electrically controlled light emitter preferably built as a nano-scale broadband optical emitter whose output wavelength can be electrically tuned over hundreds of nanometers, can be directly modulated at high speeds, and can have improved efficiencies compared to standard silicon optical sources, and the junction can also operate in a reserve mode for light detection.

Electrically tunable plasmon light tunneling junction

A stroboscopic imaging interferometer system includes an environmental chamber having a novel viewing window equipped with a rigidly integrated beam splitter and piezo actuated reference mirror for illuminating a device providing an object beam and reference mirror for providing a reference beam, upon the reflection of both beams, produces interference of the object beam by the reference beam for providing absolute phase observations of the device, that may be a MEMS device under test.
