The present invention provides a process for the production of olefins wherein a synthetic naphtha is passed to a steam cracker. The synthetic naphtha is derived from the fractionation of a Fischer-Tropsch product stream. The Fischer-Tropsch product stream may be separated into a lighter fraction and a heavy fraction and the heavy fraction may be hydrotreated prior to fractionation. Optionally the synthetic naphtha may be hydrogenated to produce a saturated synthetic naphtha which can then be subsequently passed to the steam cracker.

Modified catalyst and use of this catalyst for the conversion of synthesis gas to hydrocarbons

The present invention relates to a process for the conversion of synthesis gas to hydrocarbons in the presence of a modified supported Fischer-Tropsch catalyst composition.

The present invention provides an upgraded synthetic gasoline having a true boiling point (TBP) range of between 50&#xb0; C.-300&#xb0; C., a sulphur content of less than 1 ppm, a nitrogen content of less than 1 ppm, an aromatics content of between 0.01%-35% by weight, an olefins content of between 0.01%-45%, a benzene content of less than 1.00% by weight, an oxygen content of between 0.5-3.0% by weight, a RON of greater than 80, and a MON of greater than 80. The invention also provides processes for the production of the upgraded synthetic gasoline wherein the synthetic products derived from a Fischer-Tropsch reaction are passed to a cracking reactor to produce a synthetic gasoline stream which is subsequently fractionated and upgraded using an oxygenating reactor, and optionally a combination of an MTBE reactor, a dehydrocyclodimerisation reactor and C5 isomerisation reactor. The upgraded synthetic gasoline is useful as a fuel.

Fischer tropsch composition and process

A process for the conversion of natural gas to higher hydrocarbons in a system comprising (1) a synthesis gas production unit and (2) a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis unit comprising at least one high shear mixing zone and a reactor vessel wherein the units are located abroad a floatable structure. The process comprises the steps of: (a) converting the natural gas to synthesis gas in the synthesis gas production unit; and (b) converting the synthesis gas to higher hydrocarbons, at an elevated temperature and pressure, in the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis unit by (i) passing synthesis gas and a suspension comprising a particulate Fischer-Tropsch catalyst suspended in a liquid medium through the high shear mixing zone(s) wherein the synthesis gas is broken down into gas bubbles and/or irregularly shaped gas voids which are dispersed in the suspension, and (ii) discharging suspension containing the dispersed gas bubbles and/or irregularly shaped gas voids from the high shear mixing zone(s) into the reactor vessel.

Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process carried out on a floatable structure

Process for the conversion of synthesis gas to higher hydrocarbons. A gaseous stream comprising synthesis gas is contacted at an elevated temperature and pressure with a suspension comprising a particulate Fischer-Tropsch catalyst suspended in a liquid medium, in a reactor system comprising at least one high shear mixing zone and a tubular loop reactor. The suspension and the gaseous stream are passed through the high shear mixing zone(s) wherein the gaseous stream is broken down into gas bubbles and/or irregularly shaped gas voids. Suspension having gas bubbles and/or irregularly shaped gas voids dispersed therein is discharged from the high shear mixing zone(s) into the tubular loop reactor, the discharged suspension is circulated around the tubular loop reactor, and a product suspension stream comprising at least a portion of the circulating suspension is withdrawn from the tubular loop reactor.

Fischer-tropsch process

The present invention provides a process for the conversion of synthesis gas to hydrocarbons comprising the steps of: a) contacting synthesis gas at an elevated temperature and pressure with a particulate Fischer-Tropsch catalyst in a Fischer-Tropsch reactor system to generate hydrocarbons comprising gaseous and liquid hydrocarbons; b) in a gas separation zone, separating a gaseous phase comprising saturated gaseous hydrocarbons from a liquid phase comprising liquid hydrocarbons and from the particulate Fischer-Tropsch catalyst; c) passing at least a portion of the separated gaseous phase to a dehydrogenation reactor where at least a portion of the saturated gaseous hydrocarbons are converted to unsaturated hydrocarbons; and d) recycling at least a portion of said unsaturated hydrocarbons back to the Fischer-Tropsch reactor system.

Process of contacting a gaseous reactant stream comprising synthesis gas at elevated temperature and pressure with a suspension of a particulate Fischer-Tropsch catalyst comprising cobalt in a liquid medium in a reactor system comprising at least one high shear mixing zone and a reactor vessel, by a) contacting the particulate Fischer-Tropsch catalyst with a reducing gas at elevated temperature and pressure outside of the high shear mixing zone(s) and the reactor vessel and subsequently suspending the particulate Fischer-Tropsch catalyst in the liquid medium; b) passing the suspension from step a) through the high shear mixing zone(s) where the gaseous reactant stream comprising synthesis gas is mixed with the suspension; c) discharging a mixture comprising the synthesis gas and the suspension from the high shear mixing zone(s) into the reactor vessel; and d) converting the synthesis gas to liquid hydrocarbons in the reactor vessel to form a product suspension comprising the particulate Fischer-Tropsch catalyst suspended in the liquid medium and liquid hydrocarbons.

A method of starting up a Fischer-Tropsch reaction in a system comprising at least one high shear mixing zone and a reactor vessel which method comprises a) passing a suspension of a particulate Fischer-Tropsch catalyst in a liquid medium through the high shear mixing zone(s) into the reactor vessel and recycling at least a portion of the suspension to the high shear mixing zone(s) in the substantial absence of a gaseous reactant feed stream comprising synthesis gas; b) increasing the temperature and/or pressure within the reactor vessel until a threshold temperature and/or pressure is reached and subsequently introducing a gaseous reactant stream comprising synthesis gas into the high shear mixing zone(s) where the gaseous reactant stream is mixed with the suspension; c) discharging a mixture comprising synthesis gas and the suspension from the high shear mixing zone(s) into the reactor vessel; d) converting the synthesis gas to liquid hydrocarbons in the reactor vessel to form a product suspension comprising the particulate Fischer-Tropsch catalyst suspended in the liquid medium and liquid hydrocarbons; and e) recycling at least a portion of the product suspension to the high shear mixing zone(s).

Fischer-Tropsch process

Process for the conversion of synthesis gas to a product comprising liquid hydrocarbons and oxygenates. The process includes contacting synthesis gas at an elevated temperature and pressure with a mixed particulate catalyst comprising a mixture of a particulate Fischer-Tropsch catalyst and a particulate oxygenate synthesis catalyst.

Process for the conversion of synthesis gas to liquid hydrocarbon products by contacting, in a slurry reactor, synthesis gas at an elevated temperature and pressure with a suspension of catalyst in a liquid medium, introducing a low boiling solvent into the slurry reactor, vaporising at least a portion of the low boiling solvent in the slurry reactor, withdrawing from the slurry reactor, a gaseous stream comprising unreacted synthesis gas and vaporised low boiling solvent, cooling at least a portion of the gaseous stream to a temperature at which liquid condenses out so as to form a two phase mixture of gas and condensed liquid, and recycling at least a portion of the gas and at least a portion of the condensed liquid to the slurry reactor.

Fischer-tropsch synthesis process

A process for the conversion of synthesis gas to hydrocarbons by contacting the synthesis gas at an elevated temperature and pressure with a suspension comprising a solid particulate catalyst suspended in a liquid medium, which contacting takes place in a system comprising at least one high shear mixing zone and a reactor vessel wherein the volume of suspension present in the high shear mixing zone(s) is substantially less than the volume of suspension present in the reactor vessel, suspension is mixed with synthesis gas in the high shear mixing zone(s), the resulting mixture of suspension and synthesis gas is discharged from the high shear mixing zone(s) into the reactor vessel and wherein kinetic energy is dissipated to the suspension present in the high shear mixing zone(s) at a rate of at least 0.5 kW/m relative to the total volume of suspension present in the system.
