A fishing reel comprises, in a first bail arm, a locking device enabling locking of the bail arm in its closed position. It comprises in a second bail arm a return spring urging the bail arm from its closed position towards its open position and a mechanical transmission actuated by rotation of the bail arm drum to return the bail arm automatically from its open position towards its closed position. Unlocking of the bail arm in its closed position is effected manually, either by manual further pivoting in the closing direction or by manual partial pivoting in the opening direction. The bail arm can also be returned from its open position to its closed position manually.

The reel with fixed spool and rotary line recovery device is such that the spool is mounted at the end of a spool spindle reciprocated longitudinally by a transmission system comprising a transverse slideway constrained to move with the spool spindle, a drive wheel coupled to a handle and an eccentric crank pin fastened to a satellite wheel rotating about an eccentric satellite wheel spindle on the drive wheel. The satellite wheel has a peripheral toothed ring meshing with a fixed central toothed pinion on the frame. The diameter and number of teeth of the toothed ring and the pinion are such that the satellite wheel is rotated in the same direction as the drive wheel and at twice its angular speed. The eccentric crank pin is positioned on the satellite wheel so that it has the maximal eccentricity relative to the transverse wheel spindle in both extreme positions lengthwise of the longitudinal axis of the spool spindle at which its direction of motion is reversed. The fishing line is therefore wound regularly onto the spool without significant accumulation in some areas of the spool.

Fishing reel with compensated line storage

A fishing reel with disengageable spool is disclosed comprising a first groove and a second groove formed in the vicinity of the front end of the spool support shaft. The spool comprises a resilient key engageable in one or other of the first and second grooves. When the spool is engaged in the first groove, a key of the shaft is engaged in a passage in a rear wall of the spool, preventing relative rotation of the spool on the shaft. When the resilient key is engaged in the second groove, the transverse key swivels freely in a space of the spool, allowing the spool to rotate on the shaft. Disengagement of the spool is obtained by axial translation of the spool on the shaft.

A fishing reel with removable spool and reduction of the free motion is disclosed, comprising a removable spool which can be fitted on a shaft integral with the reel body. A main annular seal made from a resilient material is inserted between the spool bore and the spool shaft. The seal is compressed axially and radially between corresponding surfaces of the spool and the shaft. A secondary seal is compressed radially between the spool and the shaft. The seals reduce the free motion between the spool and the shaft.
