A luggage construction wherein a flexible reinforcement spring is utilized. A flat spring having a repeating U-shaped pattern disposed on a wire is provided around the peripheral wall of the luggage to enhance structural integrity and assist in returning the luggage to its original shape after being deformed.

A resilient U-shaped steel band has its upper ends adjustably attached by means of slotted angle irons to a rigid saddle composed of a panel of fiberboard and a strip of plywood secured thereto. A bottom plate overlies the horizontal section of the band. Fabric sheet material constitutes the outer cover for the luggage being stitched to the fiberboard. A relatively heavy fabric belt is stitched to the cover along the edges of the band, thereby providing a sheath for the band and preventing transverse shifting thereto.

A multi-compartmented carrying case or sport bag for carrying clothing and equipment for playing sports. The sport bag is provided with a racquet compartment which is positioned exteriorly of the bag. A hanging compartment, or first clothing compartment, is suspended within the sport bag for carrying shorts, T-shirts, or the like. A second clothing compartment is formed below this hanging compartment, and it is especially adapted to carry shoes. A moisture-proof compartment is positioned within the hanging compartment for holding wet clothing such as a swim suit or wet towel. Separate zippered openings are provided for introducing articles into each compartment.

A foldable garment bag has hooks of separable hangers extended externally from the upper end, and includes a double strap and tabs attached to the bag. One strap member passes beneath the hanger hooks and holds the folded-up portion of the bag; the other strap member loops over a horizontal, linear portion of each hanger hook and constrains the hangers to the bag. The lateral tabs cooperate with the double strap to maintain the folded condition of the bag.

A lock and cover therefor. The lock has a laterally extending rib on its forward face which wraps around to join a pair of lengthwise ribs extending down each side wall of the lock, forming a T-shaped configuration at each side wall. The cover is constructed from flexible, resilient material which substantially surrounds the forward, rearward, side, and bottom walls of the lock. The inner forward panel of the cover has a laterally extending channel which wraps around to join a pair of lengthwise channels extending downwardly along each inner side panel of the cover for mating with the ribs on the lock. The cover also includes a lengthwise channel on an inner surface thereof extending from an edge of said cover for permitting insertion of a key and retention thereof.
