A disc brake assembly includes an anchor bracket, a guide pin, a sliding mechanism, and a damping member. The anchor bracket may have at least one bore formed therein. The guide pin may be adapted to be disposed in the at least one bore and slidably support a brake caliper relative to the anchor bracket. The sliding mechanism may be adapted to be disposed in the at least one bore and to slidably support the guide pin in the at least one bore. The damping member may damp sliding motion of the guide pin relative to the anchor bracket.

A twin piston caliper with an electric parking brake and method of operating such a twin piston caliper with an electric parking brake. The twin piston caliper housing comprises two separate inner brake pads for each of the two pistons; one outer brake pad at the outer housing finger area; an electric parking brake mechanism configured to be incorporated in between the two pistons so that it is not embedded in the hydraulic piston and not the hydraulic brake fluid; and wherein the electric parking brake mechanism uses its own electric parking brake friction brake pad to clamp against the brake rotor. The method of operating the twin piston caliper with the electric parking brake comprising the following steps: using hydraulic pressure, preferably high pressure overlay, to clamp up inner brake pads and the outer brake pad against a brake rotor; applying the electric parking brake mechanism to clamp an electric parking brake friction brake pad against the brake rotor; releasing the hydraulic pressure to unclamp the two inner brake pads whereby the electric parking brake mechanism maintains the clamp between the outer brake pad and the electric parking brake friction brake pad.

This invention relates to a brake clip for use with a disc brake assembly. The brake clip includes a U-shaped section having a base leg with opposing first and second legs extending from the base leg. An abutment leg extends from at least one of the first and second legs of the U-shaped section. An extension leg extends from the abutment leg. The abutment leg is in contact with an anchor bracket of the disc brake assembly and the extension leg is in contact with a brake pad of the disc brake assembly when the brake clip is disposed therebetween.

A composite vehicle wheel hub includes an inner wheel hub portion formed from a first material and an outer wheel hub portion formed from a second material and joined to the inner wheel hub portion. A method for producing the composite vehicle wheel hub of this invention includes the steps of: (a) providing one of an inner wheel hub portion and an outer wheel hub portion formed from a first material; (b) placing the one of the inner wheel hub portion and the outer wheel hub portion in a mold; (c) casting the other one of the inner wheel hub portion and the outer wheel hub portion formed from a second material in situ within the mold to thereby produce the composite vehicle wheel hub; and (d) removing the composite vehicle wheel hub from the mold.
